Experienced Rotary-Wing Aviation Pilot
Our Aviation Services Unit is seeking highly skilled and experienced Rotary-Wing Aviation Pilots to join our dedicated team. Major Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive range of flight and operational duties, including:
- Safely operating rotary-wing aircraft in strict adherence to Transport Canada regulations, organizational policies, and aircraft flight manuals.
- Executing comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures, including meticulous aircraft inspections, fuel checks, and equipment verification.
- Developing and filing accurate flight plans, continuously monitoring dynamic weather patterns utilizing advanced aviation meteorological programs, and obtaining necessary flight clearances from Air Traffic Control.
- Maintaining clear, concise, and effective communication with Air Traffic Control, other aircraft, and Tactical Flight Officers (TFOs) to facilitate seamless flight operations.
- Demonstrating exceptional situational awareness, encompassing the flight environment, air traffic, terrain, navigation, communication protocols, and prevailing weather conditions.
- Collaborating closely with the Lead Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to uphold the highest standards of aircraft operational safety.
- Providing mentorship and coaching to new pilots, contributing to their development and ensuring adherence to operational standards.
- Assisting the ASU Supervisor and Lead Pilot in various operational facets, including budget forecasting for flight operations.
- Contributing to the assessment, hiring, and training of new pilot personnel.
- Maintaining accurate and complete flight records for both personal duty time and assigned aircraft.
- Reporting all flight and duty times accurately to the Lead Pilot.
- Delivering professional safety briefings, including technical information, to police members and other stakeholders.
- Coordinating flight crew schedules efficiently.
- Processing and disseminating accident, incident, and other occurrence reports promptly and accurately.
- Exercising discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive information.
- Undertaking additional responsibilities as delegated by the Lead Pilot or the Aviation Services Unit Supervisor.
Education, Licensing & Certifications
Candidates must possess the following mandatory qualifications:
- A valid Transport Canada Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter).
- A current Transport Canada Category One (1) Medical Certificate.
- A valid Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate.
Mandatory Experience
Applicants are required to meet the following experience criteria:
- A minimum of five (5) years of substantial flight experience, accumulating at least 1000 hours of total rotary-wing flying time.
- A minimum of 100 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on rotary-wing aircraft.
- At least 100 hours of documented night flying time.
- A clean aviation safety record, free from violations or insured losses within the preceding five (5) years.
Preferred Experience
Ideal candidates will also possess:
- Over 100 hours of recent flight experience piloting an Airbus H125 helicopter within the last 12 months.
- More than 250 hours of flight experience on turbine engine rotary aircraft.
