Position Overview: C-17 Pilot Instructor
The Pilot Instructor is responsible for the delivery of ground-based training for C-17 pilots. The incumbent will provide instruction and measure the progress of crewmembers within the established Training System (TS) curriculum.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive training using the Weapon System Trainer (WST), C-17 aircraft, Computer-Based Trainers (CBT), and other ground training modalities.

Instruct on air drop, aerial refueling, and transport operating procedures, including the diagnosis and remediation of student performance issues.

Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise and instructional capability.

Facilitate briefings, debriefings, and pilot/maintenance engine run counseling to ensure high levels of operational proficiency.

Perform administrative duties, including record keeping, monitoring student progress, training development, and maintenance of training programs.

Provide technical inputs for courseware updates and the modification of training policies and procedures.

Operate the WST to maintain instructional expertise and fly in observer status on aircraft to maintain currency and observe student progress.

Assist with project development, Learning Center monitoring, and designated duties in safety, physical/cyber security, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT).

Travel as required to meet operational needs.
Candidate Requirements
Education
Experience
-
Eight years of flight experience, including five years as a C-17 pilot with specific experience in air drop and aerial refueling (or ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver).

Two years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay complex information clearly to customers.

Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to Training Systems.

Proficiency with personal computers and software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Ability to successfully accomplish annual internal standardization evaluations.

Active SECRET Security Clearance.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, and the use of hands for controls. Frequent ingress/egress from simulators and aircraft is necessary. The incumbent must be comfortable working in inclement weather and varying temperature extremes per Air Force and company guidelines. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds occasionally, and the ability to exit the WST via an escape ladder. Noise levels range from quiet to extremely loud.
