Job Summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a C-17 Pilot Instructor to provide ground-based training for C-17 pilots. This role involves instructing, measuring training progress, and ensuring proficiency within the established Training System (TS) curriculum. The position is based in Charleston, SC.

About the Role

The Pilot Instructor will conduct comprehensive training for C-17 TS pilots using various simulators and trainers. Responsibilities include instruction on air drop, aerial refueling, and transport operating procedures, as well as diagnosing and remediating student challenges. The role requires maintaining a high level of subject knowledge and instructional capability, conducting briefings and debriefings, and managing administrative duties related to training and student progress. The instructor will also contribute to courseware improvements and policy updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Eight (8) years of flying experience, with a minimum of five (5) years as a C-17 pilot.
• Experience in air drop and aerial refueling operations is essential, or the ability to obtain an AMC/A3TK waiver.
• Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.
• Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are desired.
• Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively relay information and respond to customer inquiries.
• Working knowledge of instructional principles and theories related to Training Systems (TS).
• Proficiency with personal computers and software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Must possess an active SECRET Security Clearance.
• Ability to ingress/egress simulators and aircraft, work in varying temperatures, and lift/move up to 25-35 pounds.
• Must be able to exit the WST (Weapon System Trainer) via an escape ladder.
