FlightSafety International, a premier professional aviation training company, is seeking an experienced C-17 Pilot Instructor. This pivotal role involves delivering comprehensive ground-based training and evaluating the progress of C-17 pilots within the established Training System. Based at one of FlightSafety's advanced training locations in the United States, the successful C-17 Instructor will be instrumental in developing and maintaining exceptional pilot proficiency for C-17 operations.
About the Role

Conduct comprehensive ground instruction for C-17 pilots, utilizing advanced training devices such as the Weapon System Trainer (WST), Computer-Based Trainers (CBTs), and C-17 aircraft for air drop, aerial refueling, and transport operating procedures.

Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise and instructional capability for C-17 operations.

Conduct detailed briefings, debriefings, and provide counseling to pilots and Maintenance Engine Run personnel to foster high proficiency.

Execute administrative duties related to training, including record keeping, student progress monitoring, curriculum development input, and training program maintenance.

Provide constructive inputs for courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies and procedures.

Fly the WST as required to sustain and enhance instructional expertise.

Conduct observation flights on the C-17 aircraft, as needed, to ensure currency on operational procedures and assess student progress.

Serve as a C-17 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students, personnel, and during test events.

Undertake duties as Flight Check Airman (FCA) (Lead), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Evaluator, and perform Simulator Certification (SIMCERT)/Simulator Evaluation (SIMVAL) tasks when assigned.

Assist with various project and development initiatives.

Participate in Operations Group Standardization/Evaluation (Stan/Eval) Boards, Training Review Panels (TRP), and relevant instructor meetings or conferences as required.

Travel may be required for certain assignments and duties.
Requirements

A minimum of eight (8) years of flying experience, with at least five (5) years specifically as a C-17 pilot demonstrating air drop and aerial refueling proficiency. An AMC/A3TK waiver may be considered.

Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience, specifically in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics.

Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience and CATS MECOC certification are highly desired.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English and effectively present information.

Demonstrated working knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to Training Systems (TSs).

Proficiency in personal computer usage and standard software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Ability to successfully complete annual internal standardization evaluations.

Must possess an active SECRET Security Clearance.
