Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Pilot in Command, or as delegated by the base manager or Chief Pilot.
  • Ensure the safe operation and security of the aircraft and all persons aboard during flight operations.
  • Liaise with company lines of business to determine helicopter flight operations and provide expertise for helicopter-related work.
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-flight planning for all flight schedules, including overseeing aircraft configuration, adherence to weight limitations, and proper cargo loading and securement.
  • Deliver safety briefings, including instruction on aircraft safety and survival equipment usage in emergency situations.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including accurate recording of flight duty times, aircraft document revision control, and expense/timesheet management.
  • Assist with hangar-related tasks as required.
  • Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System by reporting hazards and incidents and contributing to corrective action follow-up.
  • Support TC Energy's mission of reliable pipeline transmission by accepting work away from base for up to three-week periods and adjusting schedules on short notice for emergencies.
  • Adhere strictly to TC Energy’s code of conduct, promoting inclusiveness and preventing workplace harassment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Valid Commercial (or higher) Canadian pilot license with a minimum of 4,000 flight hours on turbine-powered helicopters.
  • Ability to work effectively in a two-crew operation.
  • Restricted Radiotelephone Operator License.
  • Must be comfortable conducting low-level patrol operations.
  • Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Possess current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including Canada, USA, and Mexico).
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract.
  • Possess, or be eligible to receive, a valid passport and maintain travel eligibility for domestic, cross-border, and international travel.
  • Criminal background checks will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on AS350B3, H125, BH206 L4, or BH206 JetRanger aircraft is an asset.
  • Recent Flying in the Wires training is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations with significant experience flying in Canadian remote and high-density airspace.
  • Experience conducting pipeline line patrols is an asset.
  • Solid aviation knowledge base including weather reporting, GPS and electronic mapping navigation techniques, weather minima, and aircraft radio communication.
  • Comfortable working with modern electronic systems and document control.
  • Well-developed communication, public relations, and documentation writing skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decisiveness in stressful and emergency situations.
  • First aid training.

Work Environment and Travel

This position requires travel to other company locations, with an estimated 50% of the work schedule involving overnight stays away from the home base. The role also requires variable work days, including weekends. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain international travel authorization.
