Position Overview

United is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 active flight attendants. Training and Development

All candidates undergo 6.5 weeks of comprehensive Initial Training in Houston, Texas, focusing on safety and service standards. During this period, United provides a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day. Upon successful completion and base orientation, graduates are welcomed as full-time employees. Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety by ensuring adherence to all security and operational protocols.
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a positive, people-first demeanor.
  • Exercise good judgment and compassion to resolve customer-facing issues.
  • Maintain flexibility for 24/7 global operations, including nights, weekends, holidays, and reserve assignments.
  • Operate electronic devices proficiently for required tasks.
  • Perform physical requirements, including lifting, bending, reaching, and pushing/pulling beverage carts weighing up to 250 lbs.
  • Meet specific reach requirements (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
  • Serve and sell food and beverages professionally.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, scaling up to $67.11. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry.
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog).
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
  • Professional appearance, including adherence to strict uniform, grooming, tattoo, and piercing standards.
  • Must pass a 10-year criminal background check, pre-employment DOT drug screening, and physical/vision/hearing assessments.
