About the Role:

United provides comprehensive, industry-leading training, eliminating the need for prior specialized schooling or a college degree.
United Flight Attendant Training:
The journey begins with a rigorous 6.5-week Initial Training program in Houston, Texas, focusing on United's stringent safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, trainees will be assigned to one of United's major hubs, including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles. Relocation funds are not provided.
During training, participants receive a weekly stipend of $140, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and daily meals.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college education preferred.
- A minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Mandatory fluency in Italian (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and audibly, especially in emergency situations.
- Excellent hearing across all sound types and ranges.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices for job-related tasks.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport book or a foreign passport with applicable visas, valid for at least 18 months from the application date, enabling unrestricted global travel.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without restriction. Applicants are responsible for verifying travel eligibility.
- Physical ability to perform duties including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to overhead bin capacity), and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Successful completion of a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical, 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold simultaneously, without shoes).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness and legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to serve and/or sell food and beverages professionally.
- Flexibility to work a schedule supporting United's 24/7 operations, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Training Expectations:
- Successful completion of an in-water evacuation drill during training.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; marijuana (medical or recreational) is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
- Must pass a 10-year background check; background must not prohibit travel to any United destination (e.g., strict inadmissibility for DWI/DUI charges for travel to Canada without a Temporary Resident Permit).
- Must meet FAA and United Airlines' hearing and vision requirements (e.g., hearing loss averaging no more than 40 dB at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz; corrected vision of 20/40 or better for both near and far).

- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with potential to reach $67.11/hour based on seniority.
