Job Description
As one of the world's largest airlines, United Airlines boasts a rapidly expanding network and a dedicated team of over 28,000 active Flight Attendants. The role of a Flight Attendant is highly sought after for its ability to facilitate global exploration. United Airlines provides comprehensive, industry-leading training, eliminating the need for prior specialized schooling or a college degree.
The journey commences with an intensive 6.5-week Initial Training program at United's facility in Houston, TX. This comprehensive training focuses on upholding United's rigorous safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, trainees are assigned to one of United's seven major hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles, or other designated flight attendant base locations. Relocation assistance is not provided.
Following training and orientation at the assigned base, individuals are welcomed as full-time United employees. During the training period, United provides a weekly stipend of $140, along with dual-occupancy hotel accommodations and daily meals.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with potential to reach $67.11 per hour based on seniority.
- Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED; a minimum of two years of college education is preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience within the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in emergency situations.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluent in both reading and speaking Greek.
- Ability to perceive all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills, particularly during high-stress situations such as evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming, uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if they are not larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or are covered by uniform pieces, and are not offensive in nature. Decorative teeth or mouth adornments are not permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Possession of a valid U.S. passport book or a valid foreign passport book with applicable visas, allowing for unrestricted global travel. The passport must have at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restriction. Applicants are responsible for verifying travel eligibility.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects, and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to successfully complete a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold, without shoes).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, to support United's 24/7 operations.
Onboarding and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, ensuring no history that would prohibit global travel (e.g., DWI/DUI charges may impact entry into certain countries like Canada).
- Meeting Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, including specific audiometry and visual acuity standards.
