Your Journey Begins: Comprehensive Training
United's Flight Attendant training program spans 6.5 weeks at our Houston, TX facility. Trainees will master United's stringent safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, a base assignment will be allocated among our seven major hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles, among other locations. Please note, relocation funds are not provided. Training includes a stipend of $140 per week, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and daily meals.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college education is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social services.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and audibly, especially in emergency situations.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluency in Italian (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is required.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Capacity to communicate effectively during high-stress events including evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, and severe weather.
- Professional appearance with excellent grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos on the head, hands, or neck are not permitted. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed credit card dimensions and must be non-offensive.
- No decorative covers or adornments on teeth or in the mouth.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity prior to application and at the time of training.
- Must have current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or eligible foreign passport book with required visas, allowing unrestricted global travel.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without restriction.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical, 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operations.
Onboarding and Training Expectations
- Successful completion of an in-water evacuation drill during training.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, ensuring no travel restrictions to any United destination (e.g., DWI/DUI offenses may impact entry to certain countries like Canada).
- Meet Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements (e.g., hearing loss no greater than 40 dB averaged at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz; each eye 20/40 or better corrected).
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Starting Pay: $28.88 per hour, with potential to reach $67.11 per hour based on seniority.
