Role Description
United Airlines operates with a team of over 28,000 active Flight Attendants, serving the world's most extensive route network. Flight Attendant positions are highly sought after due to the exceptional opportunity for global travel.
The United Flight Attendant journey commences with industry-leading training. Trainees will attend a 6.5-week Initial Training program in Houston, TX, focusing on United's rigorous safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's seven major hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles, with no relocation assistance provided. Following base orientation, graduates will officially join United as full-time employees.
During training, United provides a weekly stipend of $140, along with dual occupancy hotel accommodations and two meals daily (breakfast and either lunch or dinner, based on the training schedule). Graduates will also receive a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of training.

Qualifications and Requirements
Prospective candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college coursework preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and audibly, especially in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluency in Hebrew (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Ability to discern all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills during high-stress scenarios, including evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, and adverse weather conditions.
- Professional appearance with strict adherence to grooming, uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed the size of a credit card and must be non-offensive in nature. Decorative dental adornments are prohibited.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices for task completion.
- Possession of a valid passport book with at least 18 months of remaining validity prior to expiration at the time of application. Applicants must have the passport in their possession prior to starting training.
- Eligibility for unrestricted global travel to all countries served by United Airlines. A comprehensive list of destinations is available via the FAQ link provided.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to overhead bin capacity or 250 lbs. for beverage carts), and pushing/pulling beverage carts.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, to support United's 24/7 operations.
Onboarding and Training
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training is mandatory.
- Candidates must pass pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Adherence to DOT/FAA regulations regarding drug and alcohol testing is required; medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
- A 10-year background check, including criminal history, is required. Any history that prohibits international travel, such as certain DWI/DUI convictions within the last 10 years (which may require a Temporary Resident Permit for travel to Canada), must be disclosed and addressed.
- Hearing and vision requirements, as established by the FAA and United Airlines, must be met. This includes specific audiometric thresholds and corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better for both far and near vision in each eye.
