Role Description
As a Flight Attendant with United Airlines, one of the world's largest carriers, individuals will contribute to an expansive global network. This highly sought-after position provides a unique chance to explore the world while actively employed. United Airlines provides comprehensive training, eliminating the need for prior specialized schooling or a college degree.
The journey commences with an intensive 6.5-week Initial Training program in Houston, Texas, focusing on United's stringent safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, trainees will be assigned to one of United's seven major hubs, including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles, or other designated base locations. Relocation assistance is not provided.
During the training period, United Airlines provides a stipend of $140 per week, complemented by dual-occupancy hotel accommodations and daily meals. Post-training and base orientation, new Flight Attendants are welcomed as full-time employees.

Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Pay: Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with potential to reach $67.11 per hour based on seniority. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This role is also eligible for bonus opportunities, including profit sharing.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college experience is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of customer service experience within the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and audibly, especially in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluency in Italian (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Ability to perceive all types and ranges of sound.
- Capacity for effective communication during high-stress events, including evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance and grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must be no larger than a credit card and not offensive in nature. Decorative dental adornments are prohibited.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops).
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application. This includes having a physical passport book in good condition.
- Ability to travel globally without restriction to all countries served by United Airlines.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects (up to overhead bins or window exits), and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Successful completion of a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold, without shoes).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness and ability to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Commitment to a flexible work schedule supporting United's 24/7 operations.
- Successful completion of an in-water evacuation drill during training.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Adherence to DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens; medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
- Successful completion of a 10-year background check, ensuring no travel restrictions to United's destinations (e.g., DWI/DUI convictions may impact admissibility to certain countries).
- Meeting Federal Aviation Administration and United Airlines' hearing and vision requirements, including specific audiometric averages and corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better in each eye.
