United Airlines is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join its team of over 28,000 active Flight Attendants. As a Flight Attendant, one plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of passengers across an expansive global network. Training and Onboarding
The journey begins with industry-leading Flight Attendant training. Trainees attend 6.5 weeks of Initial Training in Houston, TX, focusing on United’s safety and service standards. During training, a base will be assigned in one of the seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or another Flight Attendant base location (relocation funds are not provided). Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, individuals become full-time United employees. During training, a stipend of $140 per week is provided, along with dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and one additional meal daily (lunch or dinner depending on schedule). Successful training graduates are eligible for a $1,000 bonus.
Onboarding and training requirements include successfully completing a water evacuation drill, passing a pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks (including a 10-year criminal history), fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens is mandatory; medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited. A background check must not prohibit travel to any destination United serves.
Compensation and Benefits
United offers a competitive compensation package. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with the top of base scale reaching $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are seniority-based, with additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This position is eligible for bonuses, including profit sharing.

Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED; two or more years of college is preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Speak in a clear, concise, organized, and audible manner, including loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Speak, read, and write Greek fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations (e.g., aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, turbulence).
- Maintain a professional appearance and excellent grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if they are no larger than a credit card/employee badge (3.5 x 2.24 inches); larger tattoos must be covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive (including violent, obscene, sexual, racist, objectionable content, or imagery with weapons). Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are prohibited.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.
- Possess a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas prior to application. The passport must be in physical possession, in good condition, and have at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application. Travel eligibility to all countries United serves is required.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage to overhead bin, window exit), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes, to operate necessary equipment and doors.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) professionally and diligently.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United’s 24/7 operation (including weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc.).
- Must meet hearing and vision requirements set by the FAA and United Airlines, including specific audiometry and vision standards.
