Flight Attendant
United Airlines seeks dedicated professionals to join its world-class team as Flight Attendants. A United Flight Attendant serves as a vital representative of the airline, prioritizing passenger safety and delivering exceptional customer service. This dynamic position allows professionals to explore new cultures and create memorable travel experiences for customers on every flight. United provides comprehensive training, negating the need for prior special schooling or a college degree for this role.
The journey begins with industry-leading Initial Training, a 6.5-week program held in Houston, TX. Trainees master United's safety and service standards. Upon successful completion, graduates are welcomed as full-time employees and assigned a base at one of United's seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or other flight attendant base locations (relocation funds not provided). During training, a weekly stipend of $140 is provided, along with dual occupancy hotel accommodations and two meals daily. Successful training graduates receive a bonus. Trainees must pass a water evacuation drill and comprehensive pre-employment screenings including DOT drug screens (marijuana prohibited), background checks (10-year history, must allow global travel), fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests meeting FAA and United standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED; two or more years of college is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and audibly, loud enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Fluency in speaking and reading Greek.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate during high-stress situations (e.g., evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, turbulence).
- Adherence to professional appearance and grooming standards, including strict uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must be smaller than a credit card or covered by the standard uniform and must not contain offensive imagery. Decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions at the time of application. The passport must be in good condition with at least 18 months of remaining validity.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves as a working crew member without restrictions.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push and pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United’s 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation & Benefits:
United offers a competitive compensation package. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with top of base scale reaching $67.11 per hour. Compensation increases are seniority-based, with additional pay for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This position is also eligible for bonus programs such as profit sharing.
