Flight Attendant

The Role
Operating within the world's largest airline and most expansive route network, the Flight Attendant is a highly desired position essential to the company's operations. Key responsibilities and required proficiencies include:

- **Flexibility:** Being available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. This role requires fulfilling reserve assignments on short notice and being away from the assigned base for multiple days consecutively.

Training and Onboarding
The journey begins with industry-leading Initial Training, consisting of 6.5 weeks in Houston, TX, where individuals learn the company's safety and service standards. During training, a base assignment will be provided in one of the primary hubs including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or another flight attendant base location (relocation funds are not provided). Successful completion of training and base orientation leads to full-time employment. Trainees receive a weekly stipend of $140, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day (breakfast and either lunch or dinner). Training requires successful completion of a water evacuation drill. Successful training graduates are eligible for a $1,000 bonus.
Compensation and Benefits

- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with the potential to reach the top of the base scale at $67.11 per hour based on seniority.

Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must meet the following criteria:
- Be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED; two or more years of college is preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience within the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Demonstrate the ability to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner, with sufficient volume to be heard in an emergency situation.
- Be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Be able to read and speak Italian fluently.
- Possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations such as aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Adhere to professional appearance and grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are prohibited on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted but must not exceed the size of a credit card/employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) unless covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not contain offensive content (violent, obscene, sexual, racist, objectionable content, or imagery including weapons). Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Be proficient in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) necessary for completing required tasks.
- Possess a valid passport book prior to application with at least 18 months of remaining validity. The passport must be in good condition, and physical possession of the valid passport book is required at the time of application, not merely having applied for or awaiting a renewal.
- Be eligible to travel globally without restrictions to and from all countries served by the airline as a working crew member, not as a passenger. Applicants are responsible for verifying their travel eligibility to all destinations.
- Possess the physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push and pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Successfully pass a functional reach assessment demonstrating a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes, necessary to operate equipment, machinery, and doors.
- Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness securely fastened.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Pre-Employment Screening
Successful candidates must be willing and able to complete and pass:
- Pre-employment DOT drug screen and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Comprehensive background checks and fingerprinting. A 10-year background check, including criminal history, must not prohibit travel to or from any destination the airline serves. Applicants should be aware of specific country entry requirements, such as Canada's strict inadmissibility classifications for DWI/DUI charges.
- Vision and hearing tests. Candidates must meet hearing and vision requirements established by the Federal Aviation Administration and the company, including specific audiometry and visual acuity standards (20/40 or better corrected for far and near vision in each eye).
