Role Overview
Flight Attendants are crucial to ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers aboard every flight. As a Flight Attendant, the employee is responsible for upholding the highest safety standards, delivering outstanding customer service, and representing the airline with pride and distinction across its extensive global network.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and maintain the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew members.
- Provide exceptional customer service with optimism, positivity, and a proactive approach.
- Utilize outstanding interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and compassion to resolve customer issues effectively.
- Engage directly with customers to enhance loyalty through excellent service.
- Be available for global assignments, operating on a 24/7 schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments, often requiring short notice availability and overnight travel away from the assigned base.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability critical for maintaining on-time performance and meeting customer expectations.
- Work effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
- Operate electronic devices proficiently for required tasks.
Training and Base Assignment
The journey begins with comprehensive, industry-leading training. Successful candidates will complete 6.5 weeks of Initial Training in Houston, TX, focusing on safety protocols and service standards. During training, a Flight Attendant base will be assigned from locations such as Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or other established Flight Attendant base locations. Relocation funds are not provided. Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, the employee will transition to full-time status. A weekly stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, and two meals per day are provided during Initial Training.
Compensation and Benefits
The airline offers a competitive compensation package and robust benefits.
- Starting Pay: $28.88 per flight hour.
- Top of Base Scale: $67.11 per flight hour.
- Pay Progression: Seniority-based pay increases.
- Additional Compensation: Available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
- Training Bonus: A $1,000 bonus is awarded upon successful completion of training.

Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED; two or more years of college are preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social service).
- Able to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Fluent in speaking and reading German.
- Possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, or turbulence.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to excellent grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Visible tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must be no larger than a credit card (approx. 3.5" x 2.24") or must be covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive. Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Physically possess a valid passport book with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application. Eligibility to travel globally without restrictions is required, including the ability to enter and exit all countries the airline serves as a working crew member.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, and reach.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects, such as luggage into overhead bins or operating window exits.
- Must be able to push and pull a beverage cart weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Able to pass a functional reach assessment requiring a simultaneous 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold without shoes.
- Must be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Training Expectations
Successful candidates must meet several requirements during the onboarding and training process:
- Successfully complete a water evacuation drill during training.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history. The background must not prohibit travel to or from any destination served by the airline. Candidates with DWI/DUI charges within the last 10 years should be aware of potential travel restrictions (e.g., Canada) and are responsible for verifying their ability to travel internationally as a working crew member.
- Meet FAA and airline hearing and vision requirements, which include specific audiometry standards and corrected vision of 20/40 or better for both far and near vision in each eye.
