As a Flight Attendant at United Airlines, individuals become part of the world's largest airline, boasting the most expansive network and experiencing unprecedented growth. No specific prior schooling or college degree is required, as comprehensive training is provided by United.
Embarking on a career with United begins with industry-leading Flight Attendant training. Trainees participate in approximately 6.5 weeks of Initial Training located in Houston, TX. This intensive program focuses on United's rigorous safety and service standards. During training, each trainee is assigned a base location from one of the airline's major hubs including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or other designated Flight Attendant base locations (relocation funds are not provided). Upon successful completion of training and attending base orientation at the assigned location, individuals are welcomed as full-time United employees. While attending training, United provides a weekly stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and either lunch or dinner depending on the training schedule.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
- Possesses at least one year of customer service experience in a relevant service industry.
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard effectively, especially in emergencies.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Must be fluent in speaking and reading Hebrew.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills, particularly in high-stress situations (e.g., emergencies, security threats, medical incidents).
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to excellent grooming standards, including specific uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Visible tattoos are subject to size and location restrictions and must not contain offensive content. Dental adornments are prohibited.
- Proficient in operating electronic devices for work tasks.
- Must possess a valid passport book prior to application with at least 18 months of validity remaining. Must be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
- Ability to physically perform the duties of the role including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects (e.g., luggage), and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal) to operate aircraft equipment.
- Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat.
- Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Training Expectations:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training is mandatory.
- Subject to pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive 10-year background checks (including criminal history which must not prohibit global travel, e.g., Canadian inadmissibility rules), fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited.
- Must meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
