Job Description

As the world's largest airline with the most expansive network, United Airlines is experiencing unprecedented growth. The Flight Attendant role offers the chance to see the world while working and is highly sought after. No specialized schooling or college degree is required; comprehensive training is provided by United.

The journey commences with the industry's leading Flight Attendant training program. Trainees will spend 6.5 weeks attending Initial Training in Houston, TX, learning United’s rigorous safety and service standards. Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, individuals will be welcomed as full-time employees. Training includes a weekly stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and either lunch or dinner (dependent on the training schedule). Relocation funds are not provided for base assignments. Flight Attendant bases are located at key hubs including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, and other locations.

Onboarding and Training Expectations

Successful candidates must complete an evacuation drill in water during training. Pre-employment requirements include a DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens is mandatory; medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role. A 10-year background check, including criminal history, must not prohibit travel to any location United flies. Must meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

United offers a competitive compensation package including competitive pay, exceptional benefits, and travel privileges. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with the top of the base scale at $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are based on seniority, with additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This position is also bonus eligible (e.g., profit sharing).

Flight privileges allow employees, their families, and friends to fly anywhere in the world on a stand-by status. During training, United provides a weekly stipend of $140, accommodations, and two meals per day. Successful training graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.
