Job Description
As the world's largest airline with the most expansive network, United Airlines is experiencing unprecedented growth. The Flight Attendant role offers the chance to see the world while working and is highly sought after. No specialized schooling or college degree is required; comprehensive training is provided by United.
The journey commences with the industry's leading Flight Attendant training program. Trainees will spend 6.5 weeks attending Initial Training in Houston, TX, learning United’s rigorous safety and service standards. Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, individuals will be welcomed as full-time employees. Training includes a weekly stipend, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and either lunch or dinner (dependent on the training schedule). Relocation funds are not provided for base assignments. Flight Attendant bases are located at key hubs including Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, and other locations.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Must speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Must speak, read, write, and understand Hebrew fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations (e.g., evacuation, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather).
- Maintains a professional appearance, adheres to excellent grooming standards, and complies with uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if no larger than a credit card/employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or if covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive. Decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Must possess a valid passport prior to application with at least 18 months of remaining validity.
- Must be in current physical possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport book with applicable visas, granting eligibility to travel globally without restrictions as a working crew member. Applicants are responsible for verifying their travel eligibility to all destinations on United's route network.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage to overhead bin or window exit), and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes, to operate necessary equipment and doors.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United’s 24/7 operation (weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc.).
Onboarding and Training Expectations
Successful candidates must complete an evacuation drill in water during training. Pre-employment requirements include a DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens is mandatory; medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role. A 10-year background check, including criminal history, must not prohibit travel to any location United flies. Must meet FAA and United Airlines hearing and vision requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
United offers a competitive compensation package including competitive pay, exceptional benefits, and travel privileges. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with the top of the base scale at $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are based on seniority, with additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This position is also bonus eligible (e.g., profit sharing).

Flight privileges allow employees, their families, and friends to fly anywhere in the world on a stand-by status. During training, United provides a weekly stipend of $140, accommodations, and two meals per day. Successful training graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.
