Role Description:
Flight Attendants are integral members of the cabin crew, responsible for the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers aboard each flight. This position involves working in a dynamic environment, adapting to diverse situations, and representing the airline with pride and distinction. The airline operates the largest global network, requiring Flight Attendants to be available for assignments worldwide, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, often involving time away from their assigned base. Dependability and timeliness are paramount to maintaining the operational schedule and exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities & Proficiencies:
- Prioritize and ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers and crew members.

Compensation & Benefits:
The position offers a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with the potential to reach the top base scale of $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are based on seniority, with additional compensation available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This is a bonus-eligible position, potentially including profit sharing.

Training:
Successful candidates will embark on a journey beginning with comprehensive Flight Attendant training. This 6.5-week Initial Training program is conducted in Houston, TX, where trainees learn the airline's safety and service standards. During training, a base location will be assigned from one of the seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or another Flight Attendant base location (relocation funds are not provided). Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, individuals will be welcomed as full-time employees. During the training period, trainees receive a stipend of $140 per week, dual occupancy hotel accommodations, breakfast, and one additional meal daily. Successful training graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED; two or more years of college are preferred.
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in service industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, or social service.
- Be able to speak English fluently, clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Be able to read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Be able to speak, read, and write German fluently.
- Be able to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, including evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Visible tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed the size of a credit card/employee badge (3.5 x 2.24 inches) or must be covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not contain offensive imagery. Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Be able to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) for work-related tasks.
- Possess a valid passport book at the time of application.
- Have current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or a foreign passport book with applicable visas, granting eligibility to travel globally without restrictions. The passport book must be in good condition with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application.
- Be able to travel to and from all countries the airline serves without any restrictions. Applicants are responsible for verifying their travel eligibility as a working crew member.
- Be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push and pull beverage carts weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Be able to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneous), without shoes.
- Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Screening Expectations:
Candidates can expect the following during onboarding and training:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training.
- Completion of a pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history. Background must not prohibit travel to or from any location the airline serves. For example, individuals with DWI/DUI charges (including misdemeanors) within the last 10 years may require a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) from the Canadian government to perform work duties involving travel to Canada.
- Ability to meet hearing and vision requirements established by the Federal Aviation Administration and the airline, with or without reasonable accommodation, including specific audiometry and corrected vision standards.
