Role Overview:
Flight Attendants are crucial members of the in-flight team, responsible for ensuring the highest levels of safety and providing exceptional service to customers. This role requires adaptability, a passion for service, outstanding interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve customer issues with understanding and grace. Representing the airline with pride and distinction, Flight Attendants influence customer loyalty through excellent service delivery. Dependability, timeliness, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are critical for success in this role, supporting the airline's 24/7 operation and meeting customer expectations. This position involves global assignments, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, and requires availability for reserve assignments on short notice, often being away from base for days at a time. Flight Attendants embody the spirit of exploration, turning travel dreams into reality and crafting memorable experiences for every customer, every flight, every day.
Training Program:
New Flight Attendants embark on their journey with industry-leading training. The program involves 6.5 weeks of Initial Training in Houston, TX, focusing on safety and service standards. During training, a base location will be assigned from one of the airline's hubs or other Flight Attendant bases (relocation funds are not provided). Upon successful completion of training and base orientation, individuals transition to full-time employee status. A weekly stipend of $140 is provided during training, along with dual occupancy hotel accommodations and two meals daily (breakfast and either lunch or dinner). A $1,000 bonus is awarded to successful training graduates.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED (2 or more years of college preferred).
- Have at least one year of customer service experience in service-oriented industries (e.g., retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Demonstrate the ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Speak, read, and write Dutch fluently.
- Possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations (e.g., evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, turbulence).
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are permitted if no larger than a credit card (3.5" x 2.24") or if covered by uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive (e.g., violent, obscene, sexual, racist, objectionable content, or imagery including weapons). Decorative covers, adornments, and jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Be proficient in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for required tasks.
- Possess a valid passport prior to application with at least 18 months of remaining validity. Must have current physical possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport book allowing global travel without restrictions as a working crew member, not as a passenger.
- Be able to travel to and from all countries the airline serves without restrictions as a working crew member.
- Be physically capable of standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Be able to pass a functional reach assessment, achieving a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (simultaneous) without shoes, in order to operate necessary equipment and doors.
- Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Be required to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) professionally.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Training Requirements:
- Successfully complete a water evacuation drill during training.
- Pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history. The background must not prohibit travel to any destination served by the airline. Note: Canada has strict inadmissibility rules for DWI/DUI charges (including misdemeanors) within the last 10 years, potentially requiring a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) for travel.
- Meet FAA and airline hearing and vision requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation. Hearing loss averaged at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz must not exceed 40 dB in the better ear. Each eye must have corrected vision of 20/40 or better for both far and near vision.
