Position Summary:
The Flight Attendant plays a crucial role as a member of the cabin crew, primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of passengers on board. This position requires a "People-First" mindset, exceptional customer service skills, adaptability, and the ability to perform critical safety duties. Flight Attendants serve as brand ambassadors, representing the airline with pride and distinction while delivering memorable travel experiences across the most comprehensive route network in the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize and maintain the highest levels of safety and security in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Provide outstanding customer service with optimism, positivity, and a passion to serve, effectively adapting to and resolving various customer-facing scenarios with understanding, compassion, and grace.
- Engage directly with customers, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment to build rapport and influence customer loyalty.
- Communicate effectively during high-stress situations, including emergencies, security threats, operational delays, medical events, and severe weather conditions.
- Diligently serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, following professional service standards.
- Function effectively as both an independent worker and a collaborative team member.
- Maintain readiness to fulfill reserve assignments and operate on a 24/7 schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods away from the assigned base.
- Ensure critical dependability and timeliness to support operational schedules and meet customer expectations.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices necessary for task completion.
- Contribute to creating positive and memorable travel experiences for customers on every flight.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED is required; candidates with two or more years of college education are preferred.
- A minimum of one year of customer service experience within the service industry (such as retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, or social service) is mandatory.
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner, with sufficient volume to be heard in emergency situations.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing the Vietnamese language is required for this position.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Capacity to communicate effectively during high-stress events like aircraft evacuation, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and adhering to excellent grooming standards, including compliance with uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are allowed if no larger than a credit card/employee badge (3.5" L x 2.24" W) or if covered by standard uniform pieces. Visible tattoos must not be offensive (e.g., violent, obscene, sexual, racist, objectionable content, or imagery including weapons).
- Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices necessary for task completion.
- Must possess a valid passport book prior to application, with a minimum of 18 months of remaining validity.
- Must have current physical possession of a valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas, ensuring eligibility to travel globally without restrictions as a working crew member. Having only applied for or awaiting a passport does not meet this requirement.
- Ability to travel without restriction to and from all countries served by the airline. Applicants are responsible for verifying travel eligibility.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push/pull beverage carts weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment demonstrating a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach simultaneously, without shoes.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and variable hours.
Training and Onboarding:
Successful candidates will complete approximately 6.5 weeks of comprehensive, paid training in Houston, TX, focusing on safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, trainees become full-time employees and are assigned to one of the seven hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or another Flight Attendant base location (relocation funds are not provided). Training includes a required water evacuation drill. Pre-employment requirements include a DOT drug screen (prohibiting medical/recreational marijuana), comprehensive 10-year background checks (including criminal history that must not prohibit international travel), fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. During training, the airline provides a weekly stipend of $140, accommodations, and two meals per day. Successful training graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.
Compensation and Benefits:
The airline offers a competitive compensation package, beginning with an hourly flight pay of $28.88, with a top of base scale reaching $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are seniority-based, and additional compensation is provided for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This role is bonus eligible, including participation in profit sharing.
