Due to the comprehensive route network, flexibility is paramount. Flight Attendants must be available for assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. This includes fulfilling reserve assignments on short notice and being away from base locations for multiple days. Dependability and punctuality are critical to maintaining operational schedules and meeting customer expectations.

Training and Onboarding:

Successful candidates will undergo approximately 6.5 weeks of comprehensive training in Houston, TX, focusing on United's safety and customer service standards. During training, United provides a weekly stipend, accommodations, and two meals per day. Trainees must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water. Upon successful completion of training, candidates will be welcomed as full-time employees and assigned to one of United's hub cities (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) or other base locations (relocation funds are not provided). Successful training graduates receive a bonus.

All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including a DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Candidates must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens (medical and recreational marijuana prohibited). A 10-year background check is required; history must not prohibit travel to any United destination (e.g., DWI/DUI convictions within 10 years may restrict entry to countries like Canada unless a Temporary Resident Permit is secured).

Compensation and Benefits:

United is pleased to offer employees a competitive compensation package. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with the top of the base scale reaching $67.11 per hour, based on seniority. Additional compensation is provided for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This position is also bonus eligible (e.g., profit sharing).
