Role Overview

A Flight Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers. This position involves working both independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team to represent the airline with pride and distinction. The role demands significant flexibility, requiring availability for assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Flight Attendants must be prepared for reserve assignments on short notice and expect to be away from their base for multiple days at a time. Dependability and timeliness are paramount to maintaining operational schedules and meeting customer expectations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must meet the following criteria:

Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
Possess a high school diploma or GED; two or more years of college education is preferred.
Have a minimum of one year of customer service experience within the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social services).
Speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, with sufficient volume to be heard in emergency situations.
Be fluent in spoken, written, and understanding English. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable, particularly languages such as Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog, which are assets.
Possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
Maintain a professional appearance with excellent grooming standards and adhere to company uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Visible tattoos are permitted on arms, wrists, legs, and feet if they are no larger than a credit card (3.5 inches x 2.24 inches) or are covered by standard uniform pieces. Tattoos must not be offensive and are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ear). Decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
Possess a valid passport prior to application with at least 18 months of remaining validity. Applicants must be in current physical possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport book with applicable visas, granting eligibility to travel globally without restrictions. The passport must be in good condition. Having applied for or awaiting a renewed passport is not sufficient to meet this requirement.
Be able to travel to and from all countries the airline serves without any restrictions. Applicants are responsible for verifying their travel eligibility as a working crew member.
Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage to overhead bins or window exits), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
Pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach and hold (simultaneously, without shoes) to operate necessary equipment and doors.
Be able to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.

Training and Onboarding

Upon selection, candidates will participate in a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX. This comprehensive training covers the airline's safety procedures and customer service standards. During training, accommodation, breakfast, and lunch are provided, along with a $140 per week stipend. Successful completion of the training program, including passing a water evacuation drill, leads to full-time employment. Trainees must also successfully pass pre-employment DOT drug screens, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Random DOT/FAA drug screens are also required, and medical/recreational marijuana is prohibited. A 10-year background check is conducted, requiring the ability to travel to all destinations the airline serves without prohibition (e.g., DWI/DUI convictions within 10 years may affect travel to Canada without a Temporary Resident Permit). Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus. Upon completion, Flight Attendants are assigned to one of the airline's seven hubs – Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles – or other base locations; relocation funds are not provided.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive compensation package. The starting hourly flight pay is $28.88, with the top of the base scale reaching $67.11 per hour. Pay increases are seniority-based, and additional compensation is provided for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. This is a bonus-eligible position, participating in profit sharing.
