Training and Onboarding
Flight Attendant trainees will undergo comprehensive training. This includes successfully completing a water evacuation drill (pool) during the training period. Candidates must pass pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Adherence to DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens is mandatory; medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role. A 10-year background check, including criminal history, must be cleared, ensuring no prohibitions to travel to any destination served by the airline. For example, DWI/DUI convictions within the last 10 years may restrict travel to Canada unless a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is obtained.
Training is an intensive 6.5-week program conducted in Houston, TX, focusing on the airline's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, trainees become full-time employees and are assigned to one of the airline's seven hubs – Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles – or another designated Flight Attendant base location (relocation funds are not provided). During training, the airline provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch. Successful training graduates receive a $1,000 bonus.
