Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security for passengers and crew.
- Provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating empathy, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Adapt to diverse customer-facing scenarios with optimism and positivity.

- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) proficiently.
- Serve and sell food and beverages (including alcohol) responsibly and professionally.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as evacuations, security threats, and medical emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services, etc.).
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand Italian fluently.
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely, loud enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards, uniform guidelines, and tattoo/piercing policies.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to its expiration.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
- Seniority-based pay increases.
- Additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, individuals will be assigned to one of United's hub locations: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of our other flight attendant base locations.
