Flight Attendant
Position Summary
A Flight Attendant is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of passengers throughout all phases of flight, in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company guidelines. This crucial role is pivotal in delivering an exceptional onboard experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism within the aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and the proper use of all emergency equipment onboard the aircraft.
- Operates all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring the ability to perform necessary movements and apply force up to 70 pounds.
- Responds calmly and effectively to a variety of emergency situations, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
- Conducts thorough pre-flight safety checks and prepares the cabin for departure.
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Provides attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable journey.
- Serves food and beverages to passengers, which involves pushing and pulling movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assists passengers with stowing carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Maintains a neat, orderly, and presentable cabin environment.
- Handles inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Assists other Customer Service staff with passenger handling and various duties as needed.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members to ensure reliable and on-time operations, adhering to all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times.
- Maintains punctual and consistent attendance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Remains current with all Inflight guides, manuals, and regulatory updates.
- Professional Conduct:
- Embodies a highly professional image through both conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the company's uniform dress code and style guidelines.
- Complies with all associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable manuals.
- Contributes positively to the company's core values and culture within the work environment.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Must possess at least two years of customer service experience.
- Applicants must be a minimum of 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
- Preferred: Additional years of customer service experience, ideally within an aviation environment. Previous Flight Attendant experience is highly desirable.

- Possesses polished interpersonal skills, coupled with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Proficient ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Fluency in spoken and understood English, including the ability to deliver shouted verbal commands clearly during emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive, dynamic environment, managing stress associated with meeting deadlines and handling unexpected changes.
- Capability to interpret a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
- A strong capacity for calm, quick thinking, and decisive action in all types of emergency situations.
- Ability to process information rapidly and react positively during unexpected and/or serious circumstances.
- Possesses self-control over personal and emotional responses, acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
Other Requirements
- Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages and handle/serve peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Ability to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Strict adherence to the company's Flight Attendant Style Guide regarding tattoos: Tattoos are not permitted on the face (includes the front of one’s face from their ears forward, including the underside of one’s chin and cheeks), neck (area down to where a uniform shirt collar would clearly and consistently cover), and hands (includes both the tops and palms of one’s hands and fingers, up through the wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible at any time while in uniform.
- Requires a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to safely reach and operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- Must be able to sit securely in the Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without the need for an extender or any modification that could compromise harness integrity. (For reference: the lap belt measures 50 inches when fastened, and the shoulder harness measures 40 inches when fastened.)
- Multiple visible piercings are not permitted while in uniform.
Physical Requirements
- Possesses the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, using necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
- Able to push and pull movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Capable of walking and standing for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Visual acuity of 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Auditory ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Must be able to sit in the assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Capable of working extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment and Travel
- The role demands adaptability to a culturally diverse atmosphere and the ability to professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Accommodates customers’ special needs/disabilities.
- Requires willingness and ability to work for extended periods of time, as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs may be required.
