Responsibilities
A Flight Attendant at Envoy Air is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and positive experience of all passengers. Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting, directing, and assisting passengers with professionalism and courtesy.
- Delivering clear and concise public announcements.
- Ensuring strict passenger compliance with all safety requirements and federal aviation regulations.
- Demonstrating leadership, confidence, and composure while effectively managing diverse situations, including passenger inquiries, operational adjustments, and emergencies.
- Providing calm, clear, and authoritative instructions during emergency scenarios, including rapid aircraft evacuations.
- Assisting passengers with special needs, such as unaccompanied minors.
- Skillfully diffusing challenging situations involving disorderly, intoxicated, or irate passengers.
- Providing care and assistance to ill, injured, or incapacitated passengers, and administering first aid in strict compliance with government and company regulations.
- Efficiently carrying out duties within the confined spaces of aircraft aisles and galleys.
- Exhibiting adaptability to frequent changes in the work environment, including dynamic flight schedules, variable weather, and environmental conditions.
- Completing all duties in a timely manner, contributing to the collective effort for on-time departures and arrivals.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must meet the following essential requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Height between 5’0” and 6’0” (without shoes).
- Ability to fit securely into a jump seat harness and seat belt without modification.
- A valid passport granting legal right to unrestricted travel to and from all countries served by Envoy Air.
- Compliance with all requirements for entry and exit into Canada, including no criminal history within the last five (5) years.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (read, write, fluently speak, and understand).
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and trips lasting up to four (4) consecutive overnights.
- Physical capability to push, pull, twist, turn, and lift equipment, carts, and aircraft doors of various weights.
- Commitment to maintaining a well-groomed, professional appearance and strict adherence to all uniform standards.
- Possession of the legal right to work in the United States.
- Possession of a valid, unexpired, and unsuspended REAL ID-compliant state driver's license or passport.
- Access to reliable high-speed internet and a computer or device capable of downloading Microsoft Office Suite.
Position Preferences
The following qualifications are preferred for this role:
- One (1) year of hospitality experience in the hotel, restaurant, or retail industries.
- Previous work experience in positions requiring face-to-face public contact.
- A college degree.
Additional Position Information
Prospective Flight Attendants should be aware of the following conditions:
- Tattoos/body art of any kind may not be visible while in company-issued uniform or while attending company-sponsored training. Body piercings are limited to single ear piercings; body piercings of any kind including tongue, nose, eyebrow, or facial piercings may not be visible at any time. No extreme hair or nail colors or styles.
- All forms of government-issued identification must contain the same first and last name that appears on the passport.
- Willingness and ability to attend mandatory training in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; please note that portions of this training will be unpaid.
- Upon successful completion of training, candidates must be prepared to immediately relocate, without reimbursement, to an assigned Flight Attendant crew base (currently Chicago, IL; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Miami, FL; or Phoenix, AZ). Crew bases are awarded based on seniority and operational needs.
- Wages are determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Envoy Air and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA).
- Successful completion of FAA criminal background checks is required to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), where applicable.
- Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, in addition to clearing other airport-related requirements, if applicable.
- Federal law mandates that Envoy Air determine an applicant's history of Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring for safety-sensitive positions.
