Position Summary
Contour Airlines is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join its team as a Full-Time Flight Attendant based at ORD – Chicago, IL. The Flight Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all passengers while upholding the highest standards of service and operational compliance. This position requires adaptability, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to maintaining a professional appearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing all work duties within an aircraft environment in strict accordance with established standards, policies, laws, and regulations, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Actively striving to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers.
- Delivering exemplary customer service to satisfy and exceed customer expectations.
- Assisting passengers with lifting and stowing luggage (including baggage, garments, and other items) into overhead bins or other designated storage areas, and proactively soliciting assistance when needed.
- Providing attentive support to individuals requiring special assistance, such as unaccompanied minors, passengers with disabilities, and the elderly, throughout all phases of aircraft operations.
- Preparing and serving meals, snacks, and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintaining a consistently professional appearance.
- Responding effectively during emergency situations by implementing instructions from the flight deck and rigorously following all required safety and emergency procedures.
- Guiding or directing passengers (verbally or non-verbally) during emergency situations, such as evacuations, to minimize the impact of the event and ensure the protection of passengers and crew members.
- Providing emergency medical assistance (e.g., performing CPR and basic first aid) to individuals in distress.
- Ensuring the aircraft cabin and passengers are in full compliance with all company policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures.
- Communicating effectively through verbal public address announcements, safety demonstrations, and providing clear instructions to passengers.
- Completing necessary paperwork and detailed reports regarding incidents and/or discrepancies in writing.
- Retrieving and storing items in overhead bins, which can be as high as 67 inches from the floor.
- Operating all galley/cabin service equipment and in-flight entertainment systems unsupervised.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft's cabin, galley, and lavatories.
- Practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Complying with additional tasks as assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.
Qualifications
- Must be 23 years of age or older.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate is required.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and capable of international travel.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Possession of a valid passport is required.
- Must be proficient in understanding, reading, and writing English. Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and thereafter comply with DOT-mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.
- Successful completion of Contour Airlines' four-week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program is mandatory.
- Flexibility to adjust to a rotating schedule with variable hours, potentially including duty days up to 16 hours (ranging from 2 to 14 hours).
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possession of polished and professional interpersonal skills, coupled with a positive attitude and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Well-developed people skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Commitment to working in a safe, professional manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
- Must reside within one hour of the assigned domicile.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to peanuts, pets, and other allergens.
- Ability to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull heavy beverage/food carts requiring 32 lbs of force.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending to ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level, including reaching inside overhead bins to retrieve or store items.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting annual salary for this position is $34,000.00. Flight Attendants are eligible for yearly increases, based on performance and pay anniversary date, until the salary reaches $42,564.91. Based on schedule and specific thresholds, eligibility for pay incentives for additional trips worked or assigned may be provided, paid in addition to the monthly salary.
