Flight Attendant

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security for all passengers.

- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.

- Proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) for the completion of required tasks.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; 2 or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, or social service).
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Fluency in Italian (speaking and reading).
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with a top-of-base scale at $67.11/hour.

Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United Airlines' safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion of training, new Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of its other flight attendant base locations.
