Flexibility is essential, as United's Flight Attendants must be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. They will fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and may be away from their base for days at a time. Dependability and timeliness are critical to success in this role.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social service, etc.).
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in English, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency. Fluency in a second language is highly desirable, including Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards. Tattoos are permitted on arms, wrists, legs, and feet, but must not be larger than a credit card/employee badge and cannot be offensive. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Decorative covers, adornments and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Ability to serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
- Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.
Compensation and Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with the top of base scale at $67.11/hour. Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation are available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off for sick and vacation, an employee assistance program, commuter benefits, paid holidays, and flight privileges for employees, their families, and friends. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during the 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX. Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus.
