Flight Attendant

Flexibility is paramount, as Flight Attendants must be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. They will fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and may be away from their base for extended periods. Dependability and timeliness are essential to ensure smooth operations and meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety in all aspects of flight operations.
- Provide outstanding customer service with a focus on empathy and problem-solving.
- Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Work independently and as part of a team to deliver exceptional service.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Proficiently operate electronic devices for required tasks.
- Be available for global assignments on short notice, working nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; 2 or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service, etc.).
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months validity remaining prior to its expiration and be eligible to travel globally without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to 250 lbs) and sit in an assigned jump seat.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United’s 24/7 operation.
- Must be able to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.

Training:
New Flight Attendants will undergo a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, focusing on United's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, graduates will be assigned to one of United's hub locations: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of the other flight attendant base locations.
