Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 years at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED, with two years of college preferred.
- At least one year of proven customer service experience in a service industry setting (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social service).
- Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of speaking clearly, concisely, and loudly in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Fluency in the Dutch language, both spoken and read.
- Adept at communicating effectively during high-stress situations, including aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance, adhering to rigorous grooming standards and uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are permitted on arms, wrists, legs, and feet provided they are no larger than a credit card and are not offensive in nature. Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the head, hands, neck, or behind the ear.
- Decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficient in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) for task completion.
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity prior to application.
- Ability to travel freely to and from all countries serviced by United Airlines.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage), push and pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs), and pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a professional manner.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Onboarding and Training:
- Successful completion of a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United safety and customer service standards.
- Demonstration of proficiency in an evacuation drill in a water environment (pool) during training.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Completion of a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly pay, ranging from $28.88/hour to a top base scale of $67.11/hour, with seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
