Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21 years at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of demonstrable customer service experience in a service-oriented industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social services).
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly, concisely, and authoritatively, even in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking). Excellent hearing acuity across a range of sounds.
- Fluency in Hebrew (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Exceptional communication skills under pressure; ability to manage effectively high-stress situations such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance and adherence to strict grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are prohibited on the head, hands, or neck (including behind the ears). Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not exceed the size of a credit card and must not contain offensive imagery. Decorative dental work is not permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Valid passport with a minimum of 18 months validity remaining at the time of application. The applicant must be able to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restriction. (A full list of destinations is available on our FAQ page.) Applicants are responsible for verifying their eligibility for international travel.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting heavy objects (such as luggage), and pushing/pulling a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.). Successful candidates must also pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach simultaneously, without shoes).
- Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat with a fastened seatbelt and shoulder harness.
- Ability to serve and sell food and beverages (including alcohol) professionally and diligently.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, to support United's 24/7 operations.
Onboarding and Training:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill (pool) during training.
- Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Passing DOT/FAA pre-employment and random drug screens (medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited).
- Successful completion of a 10-year background check; the background must not prohibit travel to any United Airlines destination.
Compensation and Benefits:
