We are searching for individuals who embody the following:
Qualifications:
- Minimum 21 years of age at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in a service industry setting (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly, concisely, and audibly, particularly in emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (spoken, read, written, and understood).
- Fluency in Hindi (spoken and read).
- Strong auditory skills, able to perceive various sounds and ranges.
- Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively under pressure, especially during high-stress scenarios like aircraft evacuations, security threats, flight delays, medical emergencies, severe weather, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance and impeccable grooming standards, adhering to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ears.
- Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet are acceptable if they are no larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or can be covered by the standard uniform. Tattoos must not be offensive (including but not limited to those depicting violence, obscenities, sexual content, racism, objectionable content, or weaponry).
- Decorative teeth coverings, adornments, or jewelry are not permitted.
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity at the time of application.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United Airlines without restrictions. For a complete list of destinations, please refer to our FAQs. Note: Destinations are subject to change. It is the applicant's responsibility to verify travel eligibility. Flight attendants must be able to enter and exit these locations as working crew members, not as passengers.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (such as luggage), and maneuver a beverage cart weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (simultaneous), without shoes.
- Ability to sit comfortably in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional and diligent manner.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Preparation & Training:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill in a pool setting.
- Passing a pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background check, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Passing DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screenings. Medical and recreational marijuana use is prohibited due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
- Clearance of a 10-year background check, including criminal history. Your background must not restrict travel to or from any destination served by United Airlines.
