Aviation Instructor

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) seeks a dedicated and transformational individual to serve as an Aviation Instructor. The Instructor will be responsible for delivering approved curriculum, content, and assessments, facilitating engaging activities and discussions that cater to diverse learning styles. They will provide targeted guidance and mentorship to students, interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to foster student growth and learning outcomes. A key component of this role is the effective integration of technology to enhance the educational experience. Furthermore, the Instructor will serve as an ambassador for both their program and TSTC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction, developing course syllabi and instructional plans utilizing a variety of creative techniques.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure a safe instructional environment.
  • Provide student advisement and collaborate with the Office of Student Success to promote retention.
  • Participate in program recruitment events.
  • Demonstrate TSTC core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Update and deliver in-person and online training material for labs and lectures that meet FAA regulatory requirements.
  • Teach basic, digital, RF, data buss, and wiring electronic fundamentals.
  • Execute and teach fault isolation for data bus systems, RF cabling and wiring.
  • Execute and teach fault isolation on aircraft using appropriate ground test equipment.
  • Teach alignment and/or certification of avionics systems to FAA standards.
  • Execute and teach bench testing, alignment, and trouble diagnosis of avionic components and subcomponents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in the technology’s teaching discipline.
  • Four years of aircraft avionics experience.
  • Verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree, as approved by the Vice Chancellor.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with faculty.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related teaching discipline.
  • Instructor experience.
  • Ability to create and develop courses and online training material for labs and lectures to meet industry needs and FAA regulatory changes.
