Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced GU Tech Instructor Led Training (ILT) Specialist – Composites to join its team in Savannah, Georgia. This crucial role involves facilitating technical, regulatory, and manufacturing training curricula, with potential involvement in course design and enhancement, supporting operations across all Gulfstream Aerospace facilities. The successful candidate will operate under limited supervision, contributing significantly to the development and maintenance of a highly skilled workforce dedicated to aircraft manufacturing and repair.
Key Responsibilities
The GU Tech Instructor Led Training (ILT) Specialist – Composites performs a variety of essential functions, including:
- Conducting comprehensive classroom and practical training sessions for Manufacturing and Repair Station personnel on the build, maintenance, and repair of Gulfstream aircraft. Training topics include, but are not limited to, structures, avionics, composites, torque, Click Bond, Permaswage, regulatory compliance (FAA, EASA, CAAC, OSHA, EPA), and essential computer software, delivered across all Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation (GAC) facilities.
- Ensuring all training materials, including course outlines, lesson plans, books, handouts, presentations, and Computer-Based Training (CBTs), align with defined training objectives and adhere to established departmental, company, and training provider standards.
- Identifying, researching, and meticulously verifying the technical accuracy of information essential for training course development. Monitoring relevant information sources to identify necessary updates and modifications to existing training programs.
- Collaborating effectively with departmental colleagues to provide comprehensive and timely responses to training inquiries and issues. Coordinating all training functions closely with the Training Manager.
- Liaising with various departments to ensure the training department remains current on product changes and modifications, integrating these updates into new or existing training programs. Acting as an internal consultant to Gulfstream clients on training, work process, and development matters, in coordination with Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs). Conducting periodic departmental visits to foster understanding, cooperation, and confirm that training requirements are consistently met.
- Accurately updating and maintaining training records in accordance with company and training provider standards.
- Actively soliciting, promoting, and embodying a strong spirit of teamwork.
- Ensuring all training equipment is fully functional and that training facilities are maintained in an orderly and professional condition.
- Actively promoting and maintaining a safe and conducive training environment.
- Demonstrating flexibility by cross-training to teach additional courses as required.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- An Associate's Degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in the aviation industry is preferred.
- At least one (1) year of dedicated training experience is required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience as a Composite Instructor within the aviation industry, specifically in a mechanical role related to aircraft composite repair, layup, and structures. Essential skills and knowledge include:
- Extensive background in composite repair and layup techniques, including honeycomb, fiberglass, epoxy, graphite, Kevlar, and carbon fiber materials.
- Proficiency in vacuum bagging techniques, vacuum schedules, ribbon direction, ply orientation, wrap clock, and electrical bonding.
- Understanding of serviceability testing procedures for repaired components.
- Expertise in the operation and application of hot bonders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various epoxy resin types and their applications.
- Demonstrated experience in aircraft structures.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to effectively deliver complex course material.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, alongside a proven ability to foster teamwork.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
- Ability to maintain effective classroom control and adeptly diffuse challenging situations when necessary.
