About the Role

CAE x SIMCOM is actively seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Instructor Pilot to join its esteemed team, contributing to the delivery of world-class aviation training. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive ground school and flight simulator training for Initial, Recurrent, and specialized aviation courses. The Instructor Pilot will operate strictly in accordance with CAE x SIMCOM's rigorous standards and established policies, ensuring adherence to the highest levels of safety and service. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering customer progress and optimizing performance through a tailored instructional approach. This encompasses meticulous lesson planning, efficient classroom and simulator preparation, and the continuous maintenance of current aviation publications and training materials. Occasional travel may be required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver standardized, high-quality instruction in both classroom and advanced flight simulator environments, encompassing a range of training programs such as Captain Upgrades, Initial/Recurrent Training, Pilot-in-Command (PIC) / Second-in-Command (SIC) Evaluations, Differences Training, and Remedial Training.
  • Uphold and rigorously enforce company standards, ensuring all training activities promote the highest levels of service excellence and aviation safety.
  • Accurately and impartially evaluate pilot performance, providing constructive, detailed feedback essential for skill development and proficiency enhancement.
  • Maintain meticulous training records, complete necessary paperwork, and submit all required documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between customers and training center management, ensuring clear communication and exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the training process.
  • Contribute actively to the definition and refinement of customer training requirements through participation in training conferences and meetings.
  • For authorized candidates, proficiently conduct Proficiency Checks and Certification Checks as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE), in strict adherence to FAR 135 and FAR 142 regulations.
  • Continuously maintain personal competency and all authorized instructor qualifications relevant to the assigned training programs.
  • Demonstrate exemplary professionalism, integrity, and exceptional interpersonal skills in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required to support training center operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education:
    • A High School Diploma or state-issued equivalent is required.
    • An Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 2-5 years of directly related job-relevant experience within the aviation training sector.
    • Proven prior experience in teaching, instructing, or training adults in a professional environment.
    • Demonstrated customer service orientation, with a track record of exceeding client expectations.
  • Flight Credentials & Licenses:
    • Must hold or have held a professional pilot's license.
    • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and a minimum of one unrestricted Pilot In Command (PIC) type rating is highly preferred.
    • A minimum of 5,000 hours of total flight time is required, with significant experience in FAR Part 135 operations.
    • An existing instructor qualification or a current type rating is preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Exceptional fluency in English, encompassing superior verbal communication, written comprehension, and presentation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal abilities, coupled with active listening skills, essential for effective instruction and tailored feedback.
    • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and various internet-based programs.
    • Ability to accurately and impartially judge and evaluate pilot performance.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must be legally authorized to live and work in the United States.
    • Ability to successfully participate in CAE’s Department of Transportation (DOT) Anti-Drug & Alcohol testing program.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The Instructor Pilot role primarily operates within a dynamic dual environment, encompassing both professional office settings and advanced flight simulator cockpits. Physical requirements include the ability to perform light lifting, up to 30 lbs, and to sustain prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking as necessitated by training activities and operational demands.
