Test Pilot Flight Instructor (NH-04)
The U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC), a critical component of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), operating under the Department of the Army, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Test Pilot Flight Instructor. This pivotal NH-04 position is situated within the Aviation Flight Test Directorate, with a primary duty location at Patuxent River, Maryland, in St. Mary’s County.

The Test Pilot Flight Instructor will perform a range of essential duties, including but not limited to:
- Serving as a distinguished staff member of the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS), fostering crucial inter-service liaison to coordinate all agreements and obligations pertaining to the Army’s contribution to the USNTPS curriculum.
- Representing the command in efforts to resolve complex problems directly related to aviation flight testing, leveraging extensive expertise to ensure operational excellence.
- Conducting aviation familiarization and orientation flights for inexperienced personnel, providing foundational knowledge and practical exposure to flight operations.
- Delivering comprehensive curriculum instruction to personnel enrolled in various courses of instruction at the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS).
- Instructing aspiring flight test pilots and engineers in the meticulous methodologies required to safely and efficiently test substantially modified military aircraft and advanced weapons systems.
- Providing detailed written and oral feedback to students on syllabus events, including the preparation of comprehensive written and oral reports to support their development.
Candidates must meet the following conditions of employment:
- Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, requiring a successfully completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- A one-year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position; the selectee must obtain Test and Evaluation Certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the entire duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Business travel up to 25% is required, which may include OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) locations.
- Possession of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Medical Certificate, Second Class, or a military equivalent, is essential.
- Must be a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, or a recognized foreign equivalent.
- This is a drug-testing designated position; the incumbent is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $142,488 to $195,200.
