Airport Operations Instructor

SkyWest Airlines, the largest independently owned regional airline, seeks a dedicated professional who demonstrates pride in delivering exceptional results. Key Responsibilities:

This full-time position involves collaborating directly with the Manager of AO Training/UAX and supervisors. The individual will assist in developing engaging computer-based and classroom learning experiences across various functions. This includes instructing and facilitating computer instruction, eCampus modules, CRO classes, and soft skills training. The role also encompasses developing and maintaining programs based on assigned tasks or areas of expertise.

The instructor will continuously explore innovative and efficient operational and training methods, ensuring all training materials comply with current policies, procedures, and FAA/TSA regulations. This includes timely communication of updates to relevant parties. The individual must effectively convey information to students through various methods, such as written modules, manuals, handouts, PC programs, videos, lectures, and demonstrations, ensuring all students possess the necessary knowledge for safe and competent job performance.

Maintaining accurate class records, providing timely information to the administrative assistant, evaluating student performance, and offering feedback to department and station managers is also a critical aspect of the role. Additionally, the instructor will complete reports promptly, assist with the training and opening of contract and SkyWest stations, and prioritize safety across all airport operations training. Consistency in department philosophy and adherence to current policies are vital.

The position may require travel to stations for on-the-job training and to assist with staffing needs or during station openings and closures. The instructor will collaborate with station trainers and managers to ensure consistency, and assist the Customer Service Department and other departments with special projects and programs. The position will also fulfill assignments as requested by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an airline customer service position or two years in an instructor-type role. Supervisory or managerial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, editing, and writing skills with a focus on quality and thoroughness.
  • Possess an energetic, creative, and change-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to develop quality programs and cultivate talent.
  • Must not have any current counseling statements or disciplinary action in personnel file.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • A team-player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Innovative and self-motivated.
  • Prior experience in facilitated learning development is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Flash, and other development software is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with customer service and SkyWest philosophy.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all policies outlined in station and operations manuals.
  • Up-to-date understanding of all FAA/TSA mandates, including but not limited to disabled passengers, security, HazCom, baggage operations, air cargo operations, and DG/HM. (Specifics can be found in the Customer Service Training Outlines, Station Manuals, Operation Manuals, and Passenger Service Manuals.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit periodically.

Compensation:

Salary range is $37,000 - $42,000 based on years of service with SkyWest Airlines.
