Position Summary
A SkyWest Flight Attendant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers aboard the aircraft. This dynamic and exciting position combines critical safety responsibilities with delivering exceptional customer service, including the provision of in-flight meals and beverages. Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize and ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers throughout the flight.
- Actively foster a positive, productive, and respectful work environment for both colleagues and passengers.
- Prepare, serve, and efficiently restock in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, including the sale of onboard liquor and food.
- Warmly greet passengers, provide assistance with carry-on baggage stowage, and deliver clear, concise onboard announcements.
- Exhibit strong leadership by providing effective direction and assistance in all emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
- Skillfully de-escalate and resolve diverse passenger situations during flight, addressing incidents such as disorderly conduct or medical emergencies with composure.
- Maintain strict compliance with all safety regulations, conducting thorough inspections and safe operation of aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment, including escape slides, fire extinguishers, portable oxygen bottles, and automatic external defibrillators (AED).
- Consistently adhere to established operational procedures and performance standards, demonstrating the ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum age of 21 years is required.
- Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalency is mandatory.
- Prior to commencing training, candidates must hold a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity from the application date, along with any necessary visas for unrestricted travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Exceptional English communication skills are essential for relaying crucial safety information to passengers and for composing clear, factual, and comprehensive reports regarding irregular, emergency, and security incidents.
- Proficiency in utilizing basic functions of electronic devices and Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) is necessary for operating audio and video systems, managing in-flight purchases, and executing other flight and training responsibilities.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts of up to 16 hours, encompassing nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel frequently and comfortably spend extended periods away from home, working autonomously.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality are paramount.

Physical and Professional Standards
- Height and weight must permit safe operation within aircraft dimensions, including the ability to comfortably occupy a jump seat, fasten the harness, navigate cabin aisles, and operate emergency exits. Height must be between 5'0" and 6'0" without shoes.
- Physical capability to perform duties requiring frequent walking, bending below ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level. This includes the ability to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors (up to 45 pounds), push and pull beverage carts (up to 250 pounds), and lift, store, transport, and reach for items, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Corrected vision not exceeding 20/40.
- Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHZ.
- Maintain a consistently professional, neat, and clean overall appearance.
- Extreme hair styles or colors are not permitted.
- A single stud nose piercing, 2mm or smaller, is allowed. Up to two piercings per ear are permitted. Gauges must be plugged with clear or skin-toned plugs and not exceed ½ inch. Other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are prohibited.
- Visible tattoos are permitted with specific limitations regarding dimension and location. Tattoos falling outside these guidelines must be concealed by the uniform or with skin-tone compatible tattoo makeup; bandages are not an approved method of concealment. Offensive tattoos must not be visible.
- Adherence to company uniform standards and wearing a compliant face mask/covering as required.
Compensation and Benefits
Upon successful completion of the initial new hire training (phases one and two), new Flight Attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve, ensuring a consistent monthly income regardless of actual flight time within that threshold. The starting pay rate is $29.73 per flight hour. This translates to a base compensation of $2,437.80 gross per month (76 flight hours x $29.73). This figure does not include per diem or any additional flight hours worked beyond the monthly guarantee.
Furthermore, a per diem of $2.25 is provided for every hour spent on duty away from the assigned domicile.
