Role Overview
The primary role of a SkyWest Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety of passengers while onboard the aircraft. Important responsibilities also encompass caring for passengers and delivering exceptional customer service, including serving meals and drinks. Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety and comfort of customers onboard the aircraft.
- Contributes consistently to a positive and productive work environment with fellow employees and customers.
- Prepares, serves, and restocks in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks efficiently; conducts onboard sales of liquor and food items.
- Greets passengers, assists with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivers onboard announcements.
- Provides effective leadership, direction, and assistance in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Calmly resolves passenger situations during flight, including managing disorderly passengers and responding to medical emergencies.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and safely operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment, such as escape slides, fire extinguishers, portable oxygen bottles, and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Adheres to established procedures and performance standards without direct supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalency is required.
- Prior to attending training, the applicant must possess a current, valid U.S or foreign passport book valid for at least 12 months following the application date, along with any applicable visas necessary for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Excellent English communication skills are essential for providing safety information to passengers and writing clear, factual, and detailed reports regarding irregular, emergency, and security events.
- Must be comfortable utilizing basic functions of electronic devices and PEDs for operating audio and video systems, collecting and tracking in-flight purchases, and performing other flight and training duties.
- Willingness to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel frequently and spend lengthy periods away from base, working independently.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Must be willing to relocate to one of the company's crew domiciles upon successful completion of SkyWest InFlight Training. Assigned domiciles may include:

Physical and Other Requirements
- Height must be between 5’0” and 6’0” without shoes, and height and weight must allow for safe operation of the aircraft, not exceeding specific aircraft dimensions (e.g., able to sit in jump seat and fasten harness, move throughout the cabin aisle, operate emergency exits).
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks requiring frequent walking, bending below ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level; opening emergency exits and closing aircraft doors weighing up to 45 pounds; pushing and pulling a beverage cart weighing up to 250 pounds; and lifting, storing, transporting, and reaching for items, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Corrected vision should not exceed 20/40.
- Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHZ.
- Overall appearance must be professional, neat, and clean.
- Extreme hair styles or colors are not permitted.
- A single stud nose piercing 2mm or smaller is allowed. Up to two piercings per ear are permitted. Gauges must be plugged with clear or skin-toned plugs and must not exceed ½”. Other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are not permitted.
- Visible tattoos are permitted with limitations based on dimension and location. Tattoos outside these guidelines must be covered by the uniform or skin-tone compatible tattoo makeup. Bandages are not an approved form of tattoo coverage. Offensive tattoos must not be visible.
- Must wear a company-issued uniform and compliant face mask/covering as required.
Compensation and Benefits
Upon successfully completing phase one and two of Initial New Hire training, new hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve. This means payment for 76 flight hours is provided, regardless of whether actual flight hours flown are fewer than 76.
- Starting pay: $29.73 per flight hour.
- Base compensation: 76 flight hours x $29.73 per flight hour = $2,437.80 gross per month (Note: this calculation does not include per diem, boarding pay, or compensation for flight hours worked beyond the monthly guarantee).
- Per Diem: In addition, employees receive $2.25 per diem for every hour spent on duty away from their assigned domicile.
