Primary Job Duties
The primary responsibility of a SkyWest Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers throughout their flight. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing attentive and exceptional customer service while serving meals and beverages.
- Contributing to a positive and productive work environment for both colleagues and passengers.
- Efficiently preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight refreshments and selling onboard food and beverages.
- Greeting passengers, assisting with carry-on luggage, and delivering onboard announcements.
- Providing effective leadership and assistance during emergencies and non-emergency situations.
- Resolving passenger concerns during flight, including managing disorderly conduct and medical emergencies.
- Maintaining compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment.
- Adhering to established procedures and performance standards independently.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Hold a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport valid for at least 12 months following application, and any necessary visas for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, for delivering safety information to passengers and creating detailed reports regarding irregular, emergency, and security incidents.
- Be comfortable using basic functions of electronic devices and Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) to operate audio and video systems, track in-flight purchases, and fulfill other flight and training responsibilities.
- Be willing to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Be prepared to travel frequently and spend extended periods of time alone and without supervision.
- Be reliable and punctual.
- Be willing to relocate to one of SkyWest's crew domiciles as assigned after successful completion of SkyWest InFlight Training.

Physical and Other Requirements
- Height and weight must comply with aircraft safety regulations and specific dimensions, ensuring safe operation of emergency exits and movement within the cabin. Height must fall between 5'0" and 6'0" without shoes.
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, reaching above shoulder level, opening emergency exits, closing aircraft doors weighing up to 45 pounds, pushing and pulling beverage carts weighing up to 250 pounds, and lifting, storing, transporting, and retrieving items, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Corrected vision should not exceed 20/40.
- Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHz.
- Overall appearance must be professional, neat, and clean.
- Extreme hairstyles or hair colors are not permitted.
- Single stud nose piercings 2mm or smaller are allowed. Two piercings per ear are permitted. Gauges must be plugged with clear or skin-toned plugs and must not exceed ½". Other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are not permitted.
- Visible tattoos are permitted with limitations based on size and location. Tattoos outside these guidelines must be covered by the uniform or with skin-tone compatible tattoo makeup. Bandages are not an approved form of tattoo coverage. Offensive tattoos must not be visible.
- Company-issued uniforms and compliant face masks/coverings are required.
Flight Hours and Compensation
Following successful completion of Initial New Hire Training (Phases 1 and 2), new hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve, regardless of the number of flight hours worked during the month. Pay is based on a guaranteed 76 flight hours, regardless of actual flight hours flown.
- Starting pay is $28.86 per flight hour. Base monthly compensation is $2,193.36 (76 flight hours x $28.86). This amount does not include per diem, boarding pay, or any flight hours worked beyond the monthly guarantee.
- In addition to base pay, a per diem of $2.25 is paid for every hour spent on duty away from the domicile.
