Advanced Flight Instructor - Full Time Hourly Position
LIFT Academy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Advanced Flight Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Part 61 or 141 training for initial Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) applicants, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, LIFT syllabi, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct flight training, observations, and mentorship for initial CFI applicants.
- Instruct in various courses offered at LIFT Academy, as needed.
- Report on student progress to the Chief Flight Instructor or CFI Lead Instructor.
- Conduct initial CFI flight training, including small group breakout sessions for oral preparation.
- Deliver flight simulation training device (FSTD), aircraft, and briefing lessons in accordance with LIFT Training Course Outlines (TCOs).
- Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students.
- Maintain standardization by reporting any deviations from LIFT procedures.
- Evaluate struggling students and provide feedback on plans for improvement.
- Assist in the development of curriculum, lesson plans, and video presentations.
- Accurately record and report on student progress.
- Attend and conduct meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Conduct Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) and spin training in the company DA20, if requested.
- Meet the time-in-position requirements as determined by bid.
Qualifications:
Required:
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single Engine Land.
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Airplane.
- Current FAA Medical Certificate or at least a Basic Medical.
- Proven ability to apply effective instructional techniques in flight.
- Strong computer skills.
- Demonstrated aircraft piloting skills, including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and related administrative and operational procedures and requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and objectivity in applying grading standards.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to pass a knowledge test and flight proficiency check with the Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor before commencing this role.
Preferred:
- Master Flight Instructor (MEI) certification.
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification.
- 700 total flight hours or more.
- Experience with G1000 avionics.
- Experience as a CFI under Part 141.
- Experience as a flight instructor meeting FAR 61.195h requirements (2 years as a CFI plus 200 hours of dual given).
Regulatory Requirements:
- Must successfully pass an initial and ongoing drug and alcohol testing program.
- Must pass a Federal Background check.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning and Problem Solving:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Decision Making:
- Makes day-to-day decisions that support strategic direction.
- Decisions often require careful consideration and are somewhat structured.
- Decisions tend to be short-term and usually involve moderate costs.
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds up to 35% of the time.
Work Environment:
- 40-hour on-site workweek with the potential need for flexible hours and availability for short-notice response.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight and weekend travel.
- May travel to other LIFT bases to conduct training.
