Overview
As a vital member of the cabin crew at Republic Airways, the Flight Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and exceptional service experience for all passengers. This position demands a professional, proactive individual committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and customer care in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company guidelines.
Position Purpose
The primary purpose of the Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers throughout all phases of flight, strictly adhering to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and internal Inflight guidelines. This role is fundamental to delivering a secure and enjoyable air travel experience for every passenger.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To successfully perform the duties of a Flight Attendant, an individual must be adept at the following responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Consistently performs all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, prioritizing guest comfort and safety to provide an outstanding onboard experience.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures and the proficient use of all emergency equipment on board the aircraft. This includes operating all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring necessary movements and force application up to 70 pounds.
- Provides attentive food and beverage service to passengers, which involves the pushing and pulling of moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assists passengers with the safe stowing of carry-on baggage, including items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ensures a consistently neat, clean, and orderly cabin environment.
- Contributes significantly to reliable and on-time flight operations by collaborating effectively with other crewmembers to meet all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times.
- Performs inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned to enhance the passenger experience and support company objectives.
- Assists other Customer Service staff as needed with various passenger handling duties to maintain seamless operations.
- Upholds reliable and prompt attendance, adhering strictly to Company policies and procedures.
- Presents a professional image through both conduct and appearance, including strict adherence to the Company uniform dress code.
- Complies with all associate Rules of Conduct as detailed in applicable manuals.
- Maintains currency and thorough understanding of all Inflight guides and manuals.
- Actively fosters and embodies the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required to support operational needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates must possess the following qualifications to be considered for the Flight Attendant position:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience.
- Must be at least 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Additional years of customer service experience, ideally within an aviation environment.
- Prior experience as a Flight Attendant is highly advantageous.
Other Requirements
- Possesses polished interpersonal skills, coupled with a positive attitude and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Must be willing and able to serve alcoholic beverages to passengers.
- Must be able to serve and handle various food items, including peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Capable of working around animals and other common allergens and products found in an aircraft cabin.
- Adherence to the Company's Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code) is mandatory. Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the face (including the front of the face from ears forward, underside of chin and cheeks), neck (area down to where a uniform shirt collar would clearly and consistently cover), and hands (including both the tops and palms of hands and fingers, up through the wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible at any time while in uniform.
- Must possess a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to safely reach and operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons, must have the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without extender or any other modification that could compromise harness integrity. For reference, the lap belt measures 50 inches when fastened, and the shoulder harness measures 40 inches when fastened.
- Must not have multiple visible piercings while in uniform.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Capable of effectively presenting information to and responding to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Must be able to speak and be clearly understood in English, including the ability to issue shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning/Problem-Solving Ability
- Must be willing to thrive in a time-sensitive environment and effectively manage stress associated with meeting deadlines and adapting to unexpected changes.
- Capable of interpreting a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Must be able to remain calm, think clearly, and react swiftly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
Decision Making
- Makes day-to-day decisions crucial to supporting flight operations. Decisions often require thoughtful consideration and are generally structured.
- Able to process information rapidly and react positively during unexpected and/or serious situations.
- Capable of controlling personal and emotional responses, acting appropriately even under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Flight Attendant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, requiring necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Able to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods, even with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel as required.
- Able to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Able to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Must be able to sit in the assigned jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Must be able to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined environment.
- Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.

Travel Requirements
This position requires extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Candidates must be willing to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.
