Position Summary

The Flight Attendant is a critical member of the cabin crew, primarily responsible for ensuring the highest standards of passenger safety and comfort throughout all phases of flight. This role operates in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and all company Inflight guidelines, delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining operational efficiency.

  • Prioritizes and executes all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, ensuring an exceptionally safe and comfortable onboard experience for all passengers.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures and proficiently operates emergency equipment, including opening all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring physical force up to 70 pounds.
  • Delivers exceptional in-flight service, including serving food and beverages, which involves pushing and pulling service carts weighing over 250 pounds.
  • Assists passengers with stowing carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds, ensuring cabin safety and efficiency.
  • Maintains an impeccably neat and orderly cabin environment throughout all phases of flight.
  • Collaborates effectively with fellow crewmembers to ensure punctual report times, on-time departures, and efficient turn times, contributing to reliable airline operations.
  • Executes assigned in-flight sales and promotional activities.
  • Supports other Customer Service personnel with passenger handling and various operational duties as required.
  • Upholds consistent and reliable attendance, adhering strictly to company policies and procedures.
  • Exemplifies a highly professional image in both conduct and appearance, strictly complying with the company uniform dress code.
  • Adheres to all Associate Rules of Conduct detailed in company manuals.
  • Ensures continuous currency with all Inflight guides and manuals.
  • Actively promotes and embodies the company’s core values and culture within the work environment.
  • Performs additional assigned duties as necessary to support operational needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required, coupled with a minimum of two years of verifiable customer service experience.
  • Candidates must be at least 20 years of age by the initial interview date.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Additional years of customer service experience, especially within the dynamic aviation industry, are highly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Flight Attendant is a significant advantage.

Other Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a strong customer-centric approach.
  • Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages, and handle/serve various food items including peanuts, shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
  • Ability to work comfortably around animals, various allergens, and other products commonly found in an aircraft environment.
  • Strict adherence to the company's Flight Attendant Style Guide and Dress Code, prohibiting visible tattoos on the face (including cheeks and chin), neck (below uniform collar line), and hands (including fingers and wrists). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must remain entirely covered while in uniform.
  • A minimum wingspan of approximately 55 inches is required to safely reach and operate all necessary aircraft equipment.
  • The ability to securely sit in a Flight Attendant jump seat with a fastened seatbelt and shoulder harness without requiring an extender or modifications (reference: lap belt 50 inches, shoulder harness 40 inches when fastened).
  • No multiple visible piercings while in uniform.

Language Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures and governmental aviation regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
  • Fluent English speaking ability, including the clarity and volume necessary for shouted verbal commands during critical emergency situations.

Reasoning and Problem-Solving Ability

  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment, effectively managing stress associated with deadlines and unexpected changes.
  • Aptitude for interpreting diverse and multiple instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
  • Possesses the critical capacity to remain composed, think clearly, and react swiftly and decisively during all types of emergency situations, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and severe turbulence.

  • Exercises sound judgment in daily operational decisions, often requiring thoughtful consideration within structured guidelines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to process information rapidly and respond positively during unexpected or serious situations.
  • Maintains emotional control and acts appropriately under high-stress conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Possesses the physical strength required to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, utilizing necessary movements and applying force up to 70 pounds.
  • Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 35 pounds above shoulder height.
  • Ability to push and pull moveable service carts weighing over 250 pounds.
  • Sustained ability to walk and stand for extended periods, even during aircraft turbulence.
  • Physical agility to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or better (with corrective lenses or contacts) to clearly see at distances of 20 feet or more.
  • Auditory ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and through aircraft communication systems, amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat with a fastened seatbelt and shoulder harness, without modifications.
  • Capability to move freely, effectively, and quickly within the confined aircraft environment to perform all required functions.
  • Willingness and capacity to work extended duty periods on consecutive days.
