Position Purpose
A Flight Attendant at Republic Airways is responsible for upholding the highest standards of passenger safety and comfort, operating in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and internal Inflight guidelines. This critical role ensures a secure, pleasant, and efficient travel experience for all guests onboard.
Key Responsibilities
To successfully perform this vital role, a Flight Attendant must demonstrate proficiency in the following essential duties:
- Consistently prioritizes guest well-being by performing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, ensuring a safe and comfortable onboard environment.
- Maintains thorough knowledge and proficiency in all emergency procedures and the operation of emergency equipment. This includes the ability to operate all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring physical movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Provides excellent inflight food and beverage service, which involves the safe handling and maneuvering of service carts weighing over 250 pounds.
- Assists passengers efficiently with the stowage of carry-on baggage, including items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Maintains an impeccably neat and orderly cabin throughout the flight.
- Collaborates effectively with fellow crew members to ensure timely adherence to all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times, contributing to reliable and on-time operations.
- Performs inflight sales and promotional duties as directed, enhancing the passenger experience.
- Supports other Customer Service staff with passenger handling and various duties as required.
- Upholds Company policies and procedures through reliable and prompt attendance.
- Projects a consistently professional image in both conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the Company uniform dress code.
- Complies rigorously with all Associate Rules of Conduct detailed in applicable manuals.
- Maintains current knowledge of all Inflight guides and manuals.
- Actively fosters and embodies the Company's core values and culture within the work environment.
- Undertakes additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required, complemented by a minimum of two years of dedicated customer service experience.
- Candidates must be at least 20 years of age by the date of the initial interview.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Additional years of customer service experience, ideally within an aviation environment, are highly valued.
- Previous experience as a Flight Attendant is a significant asset.
Other Requirements
- Possesses refined interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a strong customer-centric approach.
- Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages and handle various food items, including peanuts, shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Able to work comfortably around animals, various allergens, and other products typically found in an aircraft environment.
- Strict adherence to Republic's Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code) is mandatory. Tattoos are explicitly prohibited on the face (front of face from ears forward, underside of chin and cheeks), neck (area covered by uniform shirt collar), and hands (tops, palms, fingers, up to wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must remain entirely concealed while in uniform. Multiple visible piercings are not permitted while in uniform.
- Possesses a minimum wingspan of approximately 55 inches to safely reach and operate all necessary aircraft equipment.
- For safety, must be able to sit securely in the Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without requiring an extender or modification. (Reference: Lap belt measurement is 50 inches when fastened; shoulder harness measurement is 40 inches when fastened).
Language Skills
- Demonstrates the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Possesses strong communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Must be fluent and clearly understood in English, including the ability to project shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning and Problem-Solving Ability
- Capable of working effectively in time-sensitive, dynamic environments and adeptly managing stress associated with deadlines and unforeseen changes.
- Proficient in interpreting diverse and multiple instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
- Must maintain composure, think critically, and react swiftly in all emergency scenarios, including medical events, aircraft decompression, evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
Decision Making
- Demonstrates sound judgment in making day-to-day operational decisions, often requiring thoughtful consideration within established structures.
- Capable of rapidly processing information and responding positively in unexpected or serious situations.
- Maintains emotional control and acts appropriately under high-stress conditions.
Physical Demands
The role requires significant physical capabilities to successfully perform essential functions:
- Possessing the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, demanding movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to lift objects above shoulders weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Capability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Stamina to walk and stand for extended periods, even amidst aircraft turbulence.
- Flexibility to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel as needed.
- Clear vision (20 feet or more with corrective lenses/contacts).
- Auditory acuity to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over aircraft systems, accounting for ambient noise.
- Ability to sit securely in the assigned jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Capacity to move freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined aircraft environment to perform all required functions.
- Preparedness to work extended duty periods on consecutive days.
