Position Overview
A Flight Attendant at Republic Airways is entrusted with the critical responsibility of ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company Inflight guidelines. This role is pivotal in delivering an exceptional and secure onboard experience, contributing significantly to the airline's reputation for operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant performs a diverse range of duties, which include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering an exceptional and safe onboard experience by performing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties with constant attention to guest needs.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures and proficiently operating all emergency equipment and exits, including the ability to exert force up to 70 pounds.
- Providing food and beverage services to passengers, which involves pushing and pulling moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assisting passengers with the stowage of carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ensuring a neat and orderly cabin environment throughout the flight.
- Contributing to reliable and on-time operations by collaborating effectively with other crewmembers to meet all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
- Conducting inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Supporting other Customer Service staff with passenger handling or other duties as needed.
- Demonstrating reliable and prompt attendance in strict adherence to Company policies and procedures.
- Upholding a professional image through exemplary conduct and strict adherence to the Company uniform dress code.
- Complying with all Associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable manuals.
- Maintaining currency of Inflight guides and manuals.
- Actively fostering the Company’s core values and culture within the work environment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned or required to support operational needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience.
- Must be at least 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably within an aviation environment.
- Previous experience as a Flight Attendant.
Skills and Competencies:
- Possesses polished interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Capable of effectively presenting information to and responding to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Must be able to speak and be clearly understood in English, including the ability to deliver shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
- Willingness to thrive in a time-sensitive environment and effectively manage stress associated with meeting deadlines and unexpected changes.
- Capable of interpreting a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm, think, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including, but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
- Demonstrates sound day-to-day decision-making skills that support the operation, often requiring thoughtful consideration in structured situations.
- Ability to process information rapidly and react positively during unexpected and/or serious situations.
- Capable of controlling personal and emotional responses, acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Must be able and willing to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Ability to work with animals and around various allergens and products.
- Strict adherence to Republic's Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code): tattoos are NOT permitted on the face (including front of face from ears forward, underside of chin, and cheeks), neck (area down to where a uniform shirt collar would clearly and consistently cover), and hands (including tops and palms of hands and fingers, up through the wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible at any time while in uniform.
- Must possess a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to reach and safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons, must have the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without an extender or other modification that may compromise the harness integrity. (Reference: Lap belt measurement is 50 inches when fastened; shoulder harness measurement is 40 inches when fastened.)
- Must not have multiple piercings visible while in uniform.
Physical Demands
The role requires the following physical capabilities:
- Possesses the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
- Able to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Must be able to sit in the assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined environment.
- Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment and Travel Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Capacity to accommodate customers’ special needs and disabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work for extended periods, as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.
