Job Overview

The Flight Attendant is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all passengers in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and all company Inflight guidelines. This role is integral to providing an exceptional and secure travel experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To successfully perform this role, the individual must be able to satisfactorily execute each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

  • Performs all regulatory and assigned cabin duties with constant attention to guest needs, providing a safe, comfortable, and positive onboard experience.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge and proficiency in all emergency procedures and the proper use of onboard emergency equipment. Capably operates all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring physical movements and exertion up to 70 pounds.
  • Delivers exceptional inflight service, including the provision of food and beverages, which necessitates the ability to push and pull moveable service carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Assists passengers with the safe and efficient stowing of carry-on baggage, including items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ensures a neat, orderly, and hygienic cabin environment throughout all phases of flight.
  • Actively contributes to the airline's reliable and on-time operational performance by collaborating effectively with fellow crewmembers to meet all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times.
  • Executes inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
  • Provides support to other Customer Service staff in passenger handling and related duties, as necessary.
  • Upholds reliable and prompt attendance, strictly adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a consistently professional image in both conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the Company's uniform dress code.
  • Complies diligently with all Associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable company manuals.
  • Ensures continuous currency with all Inflight guides and operational manuals.
  • Actively fosters the Company's core values and culture within the work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this role:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of customer service experience is required.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age by the initial interview date.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Additional years of customer service experience, particularly within an aviation environment, are highly preferred.
  • Prior Flight Attendant experience is a significant asset.

Other Requirements

  • Possesses refined interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
  • Must be willing and able to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Capable of serving and handling various food items, including peanuts, shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
  • Comfortable working with animals and in environments containing various allergens and products.
  • Adherence to the company's Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code) is mandatory. Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the face (including front of face from ears forward, underside of chin, and cheeks), neck (area covered by a uniform shirt collar), and hands (including tops, palms, and fingers up through the wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible while in uniform.
  • Possesses a minimum wingspan of approximately 55 inches to safely reach and operate all necessary aircraft equipment.
  • For safety reasons, must be able to sit comfortably in the Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness securely fastened, without the use of an extender or any modification that compromises harness integrity. (Reference: Lap belt measurement 50 inches when fastened; shoulder harness measurement 40 inches when fastened).
  • Multiple visible piercings are not permitted while in uniform.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and accurately interpret technical procedures and governmental aviation regulations.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to, and responding to inquiries from, management, crewmembers, passengers, and the general public.
  • Proficient in speaking and being clearly understood in English, including the ability to deliver shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.

Reasoning & Problem-Solving Ability

  • Demonstrates willingness and capability to thrive in a time-sensitive environment, effectively managing stress associated with deadlines and unexpected changes.
  • Adept at interpreting diverse and multiple instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
  • Possesses the ability to remain calm, think clearly, and react swiftly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.

Decision Making

  • Makes sound day-to-day decisions essential for operational support, often requiring thoughtful consideration within structured guidelines.
  • Capable of rapidly processing information and reacting positively during unexpected and/or serious situations.
  • Maintains control over personal and emotional responses, acting appropriately even under high-stress conditions.

Physical Demands

The role requires the following physical capabilities, which must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Possesses the physical strength required to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, utilizing necessary movements and applying force up to 70 pounds.
  • Capable of lifting objects above shoulder height, weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to push and pull moveable service carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Capable of walking and standing for extended periods, including during aircraft turbulence.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
  • Possesses visual acuity to see clearly at 20 feet or more, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Capable of clearly hearing verbal communications in person and via aircraft communication systems amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Must be able to sit comfortably in the assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness securely fastened, without any modifications.
  • Capable of moving freely, effectively, and quickly within the aircraft's confined environment to perform all required functions.
  • Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.

  • Willing and able to work for extended periods of time as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements

Extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, is required, encompassing nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Relocation may be necessary based on the Company's operational needs.
