Position Overview
The Flight Attendant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all passengers by diligently adhering to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company inflight guidelines. This position requires a dedication to exceptional customer service and the ability to perform critical duties in a dynamic aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant performs a diverse range of critical duties, encompassing:
- Prioritizing passenger safety by diligently performing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment, and effectively operating emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring the application of force up to 70 pounds.
- Ensuring passenger comfort and satisfaction by providing attentive service, including the distribution of food and beverages, which requires the ability to push and pull movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assisting passengers with the safe stowage of carry-on baggage weighing up to and including 35 pounds.
- Maintaining a consistently neat and orderly cabin environment throughout all phases of flight.
- Contributing to efficient and punctual flight operations by collaborating effectively with fellow crew members and strictly adhering to all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
- Performing inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned to enhance the passenger experience.
- Providing support to other Customer Service staff as needed for passenger handling or related duties.
- Maintaining reliable and prompt attendance in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
- Upholding the highest standards of professionalism in conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the company uniform dress code.
- Complying with all Associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable manuals.
- Maintaining currency of all Inflight guides and manuals pertinent to the role.
- Actively fostering the company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned or required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience is essential.
- Candidates must be at least 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
- Preferred: Additional years of customer service experience, particularly within an aviation environment.
- Preferred: Previous Flight Attendant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possesses highly polished interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Must be able and willing to serve and handle various food items, including peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Able to work comfortably with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Strict adherence to the company's grooming standards, including tattoo and piercing policies, is mandatory: Tattoos are not permitted on the face (including the front of one's face from ears forward, underside of chin and cheeks), neck (area down to where a uniform shirt collar would clearly and consistently cover), and hands (including both the tops and palms of one's hands and fingers, up through the wrist bone). All other tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible at any time while in uniform. Multiple visible piercings while in uniform are also not permitted.
- Must have a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to reach and safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons, must have the ability to sit securely in the Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without an extender or other modification that may compromise the integrity of the harness. For reference, the lap belt measures approximately 50 inches when fastened, and the shoulder harness measures approximately 40 inches when fastened.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Able to effectively present information to and respond to questions from management, crew members, passengers, and the general public.
- Proficiency in spoken and understood English is paramount, including the ability to deliver clear, shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning and Problem Solving Ability
- Must be willing to work effectively in a time-sensitive environment and adeptly handle stress associated with meeting deadlines and managing unexpected changes.
- Capable of interpreting a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Must be able to remain calm, think clearly, and react quickly and appropriately in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
Decision Making
- Makes day-to-day decisions that support the operation; decisions often require thoughtful consideration and are somewhat structured.
- Able to process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations.
- Capable of controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
The role of Flight Attendant requires the ability to meet specific physical demands, including:
- Must possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
- Able to push and pull movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Able to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Able to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Must be able to sit securely in the assigned jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Must be able to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined environment.
- Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment
The Flight Attendant operates within a dynamic work environment characterized by:

Travel Requirements
This position requires extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, encompassing nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Candidates must be willing to relocate based on the company’s operational needs.
