Flight Attendant
Overview
The Flight Attendant ensures the safety and comfort of passengers in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company Inflight guidelines. This critical role is essential to providing an exceptional and secure onboard experience for all travelers.
Key Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant performs a diverse range of duties, including:
- Executing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, prioritizing guest safety and comfort throughout the flight experience.
- Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures and the proper operation of all onboard emergency equipment; proficiently operating emergency exits and aircraft equipment, applying necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Delivering professional food and beverage service, which requires the ability to push and pull moveable service carts exceeding 250 pounds.
- Assisting passengers with the secure stowing of carry-on baggage, including items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ensuring a consistently neat, clean, and orderly cabin environment.
- Contributing actively to reliable and on-time flight operations by collaborating effectively with fellow crew members to meet all reporting, departure, and minimum turn times.
- Conducting inflight sales and promotional activities as directed.
- Providing support to other Customer Service staff in passenger handling and related duties as required.
- Adhering strictly to company policies and procedures regarding reliable and prompt attendance.
- Upholding a consistently professional image in both conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the company uniform dress code.
- Complying with all Associate Rules of Conduct as detailed in applicable company manuals.
- Maintaining current knowledge of all Inflight guides and operational manuals.
- Actively fostering and embodying the company’s core values and culture within the work environment.
- Performing any additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position should possess the following qualifications:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience.
- Must be at least 20 years of age by the initial interview date.
Preferred Experience
- Additional years of customer service experience, ideally within the aviation sector.
- Prior experience as a Flight Attendant.
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a strong customer-centric approach.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to serve and handle various food items, including peanuts, shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Comfortable working with animals and in environments containing common allergens.
- Strict adherence to the company’s Flight Attendant Style Guide regarding appearance: Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the face (including front, chin, and cheeks), neck (area below a uniform shirt collar), and hands (tops, palms, and fingers up to the wrist bone). Any other tattoos must not be visible while in uniform.
- A wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater is required to safely reach and operate all necessary aircraft equipment.
- For safety compliance, candidates must be able to sit securely in the Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without requiring an extender or modification. (Reference: Lap belt measurement is 50 inches when fastened; shoulder harness is 40 inches when fastened).
- No multiple visible piercings permitted while in uniform.
Language Proficiency
- Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental aviation regulations.
- Proficiency in presenting information clearly and responding effectively to inquiries from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Fluency in spoken and understood English, including the ability to issue clear and decisive verbal commands during emergency situations.

- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment and effectively manage stress associated with deadlines and unforeseen changes.
- Aptitude for interpreting diverse and multifaceted instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
- Ability to maintain composure, think critically, and react swiftly in all emergency scenarios, including but not limited to medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.

- Possession of physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, requiring movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to lift objects above shoulder level, weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Capability to push and pull moveable service carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Endurance to walk and stand for extended periods, including during aircraft turbulence.
- Physical agility to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel as required.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 or better with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Auditory clarity to comprehend verbal communications in person and via aircraft communication systems amidst ambient cabin and passenger noise.
- Ability to sit securely in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Capacity to move freely, effectively, and swiftly within a confined aircraft environment to perform all required duties.
- Willingness and ability to work extended duty periods on consecutive days.
Work Environment
The Flight Attendant primarily operates within an aircraft cabin, encountering the following environmental characteristics:
- A dynamic, culturally diverse atmosphere requiring professional interaction with passengers and crew, often under stressful conditions.
- The need to accommodate passengers with special needs or disabilities.
- Requires availability for extended work periods and a flexible schedule, encompassing early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel & Relocation
This position requires extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Candidates must be willing to relocate based on the company’s operational requirements.
