Position Purpose

The Flight Attendant (Cabin Crew Member) is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers throughout all phases of flight, operating in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company Inflight guidelines. This vital role contributes significantly to a positive and secure onboard experience.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties

To perform this role successfully, the Flight Attendant must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Diligently performs all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, providing unwavering attention to guests and ensuring a safe, comfortable onboard experience.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of all emergency procedures and the proper use of all emergency equipment on board the aircraft. This includes the ability to operate all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, applying movements and force up to 70 pounds as required.
  • Provides exceptional inflight food and beverage service, which involves pushing and pulling moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Assists passengers with the safe stowage of carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Ensures the cabin environment remains neat, orderly, and hygienic throughout the flight.
  • Collaborates effectively with fellow crewmembers to contribute to reliable and on-time flight operations, adhering to all report, departure, and minimum turn times.
  • Executes inflight sales and promotional activities as directed.
  • Provides support to other Customer Service personnel with passenger handling and related duties as needed.
  • Maintains consistent and prompt attendance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Upholds a highly professional image, both in conduct and appearance, strictly adhering to the Company's uniform dress code.
  • Ensures full compliance with all associate Rules of Conduct and company operational manuals.
  • Remains current with all Inflight guides and manuals pertinent to the role.
  • Actively fosters and embodies the Company’s core values and culture within the work environment.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary for a candidate to perform this job successfully.

Education & Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED is required, complemented by at least two years of demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age by the date of the initial interview.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Additional years of customer service experience, particularly within an aviation environment, are highly desirable.
    • Previous experience as a Flight Attendant is a significant advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possesses polished interpersonal skills, coupled with a positive attitude and a strong customer-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
  • Must be able to speak and be clearly understood in English, including the ability to project shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates a strong capacity for reasoning and problem-solving, including the ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive environment and manage stress associated with deadlines and unexpected changes.
  • Capable of interpreting diverse and multiple instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
  • The ability to remain calm, think critically, and react swiftly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
  • Exhibits sound decision-making skills for day-to-day operational support, often requiring thoughtful consideration and adherence to structured guidelines.
  • Ability to process information rapidly and respond positively during unexpected or serious situations.
  • Capacity to control personal and emotional responses, acting appropriately even under high levels of stress.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Flight Attendant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Possesses the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, requiring necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
  • Capable of lifting objects above shoulders weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, even amidst aircraft turbulence.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel as required.
  • Clear vision (20 feet or more) with or without corrective lenses/contacts.
  • Ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over aircraft communication systems, amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Must be able to sit securely in the assigned Flight Attendant jump seat with the seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without requiring any modifications.
  • Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined environment.
  • Capable of working extended duty periods on sequential days.

  • Willingness and ability to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew, including under stressful conditions.
  • The capacity to accommodate customers’ special needs and disabilities.
  • Availability and willingness to work for extended periods, as well as a varied schedule encompassing early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Extensive travel is required, up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
  • Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able and willing to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
  • Ability to work with animals and around other common allergens and products.
  • Adherence to the Company’s Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code) is mandatory: Tattoos are strictly prohibited on the face (including the front of one’s face from ears forward, underside of chin and cheeks), neck (area down to where a uniform shirt collar clearly and consistently covers), and hands (including both the tops and palms of one’s hands and fingers, up through the wrist bone). Tattoos in non-prohibited areas must not be visible at any time while in uniform.
  • Must possess a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to reach and safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
  • For safety reasons, candidates must demonstrate the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without an extender or other modification that could compromise the harness's integrity. (For reference: the lap belt measurement is 50 inches when fastened, and the shoulder harness measurement is 40 inches when fastened.)
  • Multiple piercings visible while in uniform are not permitted.
