Flight Attendant (Inflight Service)
Overview of the Position
Piedmont Airlines, a dedicated provider of industry-leading service for customers and airline partners, seeks a motivated, reliable professional to join the organization as a Flight Attendant within the Inflight Service Department. This critical aviation role is instrumental in maintaining the company’s standard of excellence.
The Flight Attendant assumes primary responsibility for setting the standard for safety compliance and ensuring exceptional inflight service delivery aboard American Eagle flights. The professional in this position operates independently within the cabin, manages a diverse range of situations, and maintains continuous, positive contact with the traveling public. This position reports directly to the Hub Manager, Inflight Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant is expected to successfully execute the following duties:
- Manages a wide variety of situations while ensuring continuous and professional contact with passengers.
- Works autonomously in the aircraft cabin without immediate supervision.
- Ensures the safety, security, and comfort of all passengers.
- Provides confident leadership and decisive responses during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Adapts to variable shifts, diverse climates, and multiple operational locations.
Job Qualifications and Competencies
Candidates must satisfy the following minimum qualifications for consideration:
- Minimum age of 21 years is required.
- Proof of high school or GED completion is mandatory.
- Height must be between 5’2” and 6’0” tall.
- Must be capable of working shifts extending up to 14 hours per day.
- Must possess a valid passport permitting unrestricted travel to and from the United States.
- Must demonstrate fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
- Must maintain a professional image, strictly adhering to uniform standards prohibiting visible tattoos, facial, multiple, or upper ear piercings, and hair color that does not naturally occur on humans while in uniform.
- Must be physically able to walk comfortably down the aircraft aisle while facing forward, move quickly through the over-wing exit, and sit securely in the flight attendant jump seat without modification or a seat belt extension.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Two (2) years of prior customer service experience is strongly advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The role involves extensive travel, requiring the ability to spend consecutive nights away from the base of operation. Work occurs across all shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and irregular schedules, often within airport ramp/warehouse environments subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels.
Physical Demands
- Requires frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, and climbing up and down stairs.
- Requires long periods of standing and speaking.
- Must be able to handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pull or push catering carts in excess of 150 pounds.
- Required to assist passengers with disabilities, including, but not limited to, pushing wheelchairs.
Training and Employment Conditions
Successful candidates are required to complete thirty-two (32) days of paid ground school training scheduled in Charlotte, NC. All candidates are required to reside at a designated hotel during ground school for five weeks. Ground school will be followed by up to two weeks of mandatory on-the-job training. Successful completion of all phases of training is required.
Employment is contingent upon a clear driving record, a 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and successful completion of a drug screen as required.
