Purpose of Position
Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, seeks qualified candidates for a Lead Pilot in Command position for a Global 6000 aircraft based at Broomfield, CO. This is a three-pilot account supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician, operating under both Part 91 and Part 135 regulations.
The Lead Pilot in Command serves as a peer-leader for the designated flight department, focusing on effective crew resource management, exceptional client service, and the completion of flight department administrative duties. The Lead PIC actively participates in the flying schedule while adhering to all standard Pilot in Command duties and expectations. This role involves frequent communication with the EJM Regional Chief Pilot and contributing to team engagement.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Leads Flight Department Success:
- Manages important client relationships, balancing the needs of the client and EJM. Proactive communication is essential to address current or potential issues and opportunities.
- Works closely with maintenance personnel, whether assigned to the account or a company designee, to ensure compliance with all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance events. Regular tasks such as database updates, audits, and checklist completions are also overseen.
- Completes other duties as expected by the aircraft owner/account, including invoice reviews, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew schedule management, all in accordance with defined expectations.
- Supports flight department crew members in understanding requirements, motivates the team to achieve flight department goals while representing the EJM brand, and reports concerns or issues to the Regional Chief Pilot.
- Administrative matters for the flight department, including managing supplies (office and aircraft), subscriptions, and crew schedules, along with associated communication with crew members, are also key responsibilities.
Ensures the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Ensures that crewing and trip assignments comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Completes flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assignment as required.
- Utilizes the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and mitigate operational risks.
- Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordination with company personnel as required are mandatory. The Lead PIC acts as the Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
- Pre-flight tasks, including checking the aircraft's maintenance status to ensure it is mission capable, are completed, and all aircraft discrepancies are recorded in accordance with company SOPs.
- Monitoring and accomplishing all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) in accordance with SOPs is also required.
- Passenger briefings are conducted in accordance with company policy and regulations, delivering the highest level of customer service and accommodating any special needs passengers may have.
- Utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles, the Lead PIC communicates clearly and in a timely manner with crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Delivers an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides quality service to owners and passengers, actively identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Regularly investigating and resolving service deviations is part of the role.
- Collaborates with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to ensure a consistent service experience for owners and passengers, resolving conflict and challenges acceptably.
Maintains Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all required regulatory and company training and recency of experience.
- Compliance with the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and reporting safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels is essential.
- Ensures all crew members remain qualified to act in their assigned capacity in accordance with regulations and company policy and ensures all crew members comply with company policies, with appropriate audits in place.
Certifications and Licenses
FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)
- Prior experience in corporate/business aviation is preferred.
- Must possess an FAA Type rating in the applicable fleet (Global 6000).
- Candidates must be able to perform the essential job functions associated with the position.
- Minimum flight time requirements include:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
Base Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $315,000 – $320,000.
